STUDENT INFO
• Starting Wednesday, January 30th any Students who have an “excused 0, 1st, or 6th period” or surf team on their schedule need to come to the Guidance Office to get an “Off-Grounds sticker” placed on their student ID card. Off-Grounds will be issued before school, at snack, at lunch, or after school only. Please do not come during class time. If you are stopped by the police without the Off-Grounds sticker on your ID card, you may be subject to a truancy citation.
• All Fall semester class textbooks are now due. Students will be charged a $5 late fee for any Fall semester books returned after today, Tuesday, January 29. Students who still need Spring Semester class books should come to the library as soon as possible to get them. You must have your ID to check out textbooks.
• Interested in becoming a Manhattan Beach Police Explorer and learning about Law enforcement? Come and join a 12 week academy. Sign-up sheet will be in guidance counselor office. Briefing about what an explorer is once you sigh up.
• AP Students: Don’t forget to sign up to register to take your AP” exams TODAY at lunch only at the student store. Please bring your completed blue worksheet and a pen to complete the actual registration form. Checks (94 for each exam) should be made payable to MCHS.
• Last chance to sign up for the SAT Savvy intensive Prep Class. Test Prep for March 9th test starts Saturday, Feb. 2nd. Sign up TODAY and improve your test scores at www.satsavvy.info or in Room 18, 50 or the CCC.
• Hermosa Valley School is looking for HVS alumni to be Cabin Leaders for the 6th Grade Outdoor Science School in Malibu. Outdoor Science School will take place from Monday, March 11 to Friday, March 15.
It may be possible to earn Community Service credits. Applicant deadline Friday, February 1, so that we
can have a crew + alternates in place by then. Please contact Mr. Hecker at [email protected].

CLUBS/ORGANIZATIONS
• Want to help cure cancer? Come by Room 45 TODAY and every Tuesday at lunch for Relay for Life Club and join the fight!
• Love science, technology, engineering, and/or math? Come by Room 75 every Wednesday at lunch and join GALS Club!
• Come to Room 205 TODAY for Partners for the Planet! Branch out 2nd semester! Its not too late to join! New members welcome!
• Come to Room 61 for H2O For Life on Wednesday! Not too late to join, new members welcome! We will be having a guest speaker so don’t miss it!
• Come to Food Critics Club in Room 50 for good food and mellow vibes!
• Interested in your Jewish heritage? Then come to Jewish Culture Club TODAY in Room 200 as we debate theology.
• Learn. Make. Do. With the Automotive Engineering Club. Meeting in Room 33 on Thursday.
• The Library Club meets in the library workroom during lunch TODAY.
SENIORS
• Please review the Senior 2nd Semester Calendar for important dates to remember. The calendar can be viewed though the MCHS website.
• Seniors - If you missed one of the mandatory Scholarship Notebook meetings and want to submit a Scholarship Notebook, come to the makeup meeting on Monday, February 4 during lunch in the CCC.
SPORTS
COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER
• Please turn in your mid-year report forms/requests to your Guidance Counselor if applicable to the Private College or out of State College you applied to. They are due no later than February 1st, 2013. Please refer back to the guidelines regarding instructions for Private and Out of State Colleges/Universities located on the MCHS website.
• All Students – Come hear about AFS and FACES, two international study abroad and foreign exchange programs, at lunch in the CCC on Tuesday, February 5. Come see what the world has to offer!
FACULTY
