• Reminder: No school on Monday 1/21 in Observance of Martin Luther King Jr’s birthday
• Hermosa Valley School is looking for HVS alumni to be Cabin Leaders for the 6th Grade Outdoor Science School in Malibu. Outdoor Science School will take place from Monday, March 11 to Friday, March 15.
It may be possible to earn Community Service credits. Applicant deadline Friday, February 1, so that we
can have a crew + alternates in place by then. Please contact Mr. Hecker at [email protected].

• Costa Rica 2013 meeting TODAY at lunch in Room 47. Pura vida!

• It’s Getting Yacht In Here! Winter Formal tickets are on sale at the student store during lunch this week! Regular prices next week. From January 14-18, tickets are $44 single and $84 couple with ASB sticker, and $48 single, $92 couple without ASB sticker.
• The Manhattan Beach Teen Center will be open on Martin Luther King Day, January 21, from 10 am – 6pm. They’ll be playing mushroom tag, dodgeball and watching a movie! Stop by for some fun!
• Come see Sustainable Architecture and Art Design House on January 23, 7-20pm. Hosted by Fola which benefits local schools.

CLUBS/ORGANIZATIONS
• Come get knighted by the Kind of Chess Club, TODAY at lunch in Room 23! Chess Club is the best club!
• Come to Emusoi Club to help support young girls in Tanzania seeking an education. All are welcome! Mondays at lunch in Room 4.
SENIORS
• Scholarship Notebook meetings: January 24th. Seniors! Those of you who plan to submit a scholarship notebook must attend ONE of these meetings during lunch in the CCC. The deadline to submit a Scholarship Notebook is Feb. 28th by the end of lunch – no exceptions!


SPORTS
• Girls Lacrosse is having tryouts Monday, January 21st at 9:00am-11am on the stadium. There will be a second tryout Friday, January 25th at 12:30, right after your last final, also on the stadium.

COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER
• Please turn in your mid-year report forms/requests to your Guidance Counselor if applicable to the Private College or out of State College you applied to. They are due no later than February 1st, 2013. Please refer back to the guidelines regarding instructions for Private and Out of State Colleges/Universities located on the MCHS website.

FACULTY
• Please excuse all boys soccer players at 1:15 for a 2:30 kick-off at Peninsula.
