• Hermosa Valley School is looking for HVS alumni to be Cabin Leaders for the 6th Grade Outdoor Science School in Malibu. Outdoor Science School will take place from Monday, March 11 to Friday, March 15.
It may be possible to earn Community Service credits. Applicant deadline Friday, February 1, so that we
can have a crew + alternates in place by then. Please contact Mr. Hecker at [email protected].
• Any student wishing to join the MCHS Swim Team and are not currently enrolled in water polo or swimming: Tryouts are at the pool on Wednesday, January 16th at 3:00pm. Be prepared to swim!
• SAT Savvy Intensive Prep Class starts February 2nd. Sign up TODAY and improve your SAT scores! 18 hours of instruction plus 4 practice tests. For more info, go to www.satsavvy.info or Room 18, 50, CC.
• Come to Mira Costa’s second annual Poetry Out Loud Competition this Thursday in the Drama Room (Rm 1) at 7pm – admission is FREE!
CLUBS/ORGANIZATIONS
• Put on your Mickey ears and come to Disney’s Friends for Change Club TODAY at lunch in Room 223. We’ll have cookies!
• Come to Emusoi Club to help support young girls in Tanzania seeking an education. All are welcome! TODAY at lunchtime in Room 4.
• Come to Lunches with Love if you want to feed the homeless and get community service hours! Room 120 at lunch every Thursday!
• Ecology Club meets TODAY in Room 73! Come save the trees!
• Come to Food Critics Club on Wednesday, in Room 50.
• Anybody interested in fundraising to build a school for impoverished children in Nicaragua should join the really exciting, new club at Mira Costa, Free the Children! We may even get the chance to visit the school we build! It’s going down TODAY in Room 45. Everyone is welcome!
• Math Club meets every Tuesday in Room 59.
• Science Olympiad meets every Wednesday in Room 77. Members, study for your events. Testing starts soon.
• Come to Chinese Language and Culture Club TODAY in Room 25 for Chinese food and to hang out! Everyone is welcome!
SENIORS
• Scholarship Notebook meetings: January, 16th, or 24th. Seniors! Those of you who plan to submit a scholarship notebook must attend ONE of these meetings during lunch in the CCC. The deadline to submit a Scholarship Notebook is Feb. 28th by the end of lunch – no exceptions!
• All graduating seniors are invited to complete a Scholarship Notebook. Notebooks will be reviewed by various local scholarship committees. Any student who wants to complete a Scholarship Notebook MUST come to one of the following three informational meetings in the CCC during lunch Wednesday, January 16 or Thursday, January 24. Notebooks will be due February 28th.

COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER
• Please turn in your mid-year report forms/requests to your Guidance Counselor if applicable to the Private College or out of State College you applied to. They are due no later than February 1st, 2013. Please refer back to the guidelines regarding instructions for Private and Out of State Colleges/Universities located on the MCHS website.
