STUDENT INFORMATION

• "Congratulations to the Mira Costa Winterguard Teams!!! In Championship Competition on April 21st the JV team earned the Gold Medal in their division and the Varsity team earned the highest score in the highest division of all teams competing from the South Bay!"

• TODAY and tomorrow (Wednesday) are the last days to vote for the 2012-13 planner covers. Winner will be announced on Thursday during morning announcements.

• AP Students: The final three AP Exam pre-identification sessions are scheduled as follows:

-TODAY, April 24, 7:30 p.m. Small Gym
-Wednesday, April 25, 3:30 p.m. Small Gym

Each meeting will last approximately 40 minutes. Students must attend one and need to be on time, and bring a #2 pencil and something (a clipboard, book, etc.) on which to write.

• IN-N-OUT HONOR ROLL RECOGNITION LUNCH—In-N-Out will be returning to Mira Costa TODAY to serve complimentary lunches to all students who earned a GPA of 3.5 or higher at Mira Costa last semester. All eligible students must bring their current Mira Costa I.D. to the school auditorium check-in area during the regular lunch period (12:21-12:51) in order to participate. Please check the Mira Costa Website or on the lists up in the cafeteria to see if you are on the list-the offices will be closed during the in/out lunch. If you are not on the list but feel you should be please see your advisor before April 24, 2012.

• The 12th annual student art show will be held at the Manhattan Beach Creative Arts Center May 11-19th. All students are encouraged to participate. Entries can be any medium (drawing, painting, photography, sculpture, etc.). See Ms. Martin, Mr. Reichardt, or Ms. Zask in Room 102, 107, or 116 for more info and official entry form. Deadline to submit work is April 30th.

• It is time to start signing up for Spain Trip 2013!!! Come to Room 48 at lunch on Wednesday for more info!

• Richstone Walkathon is Saturday, April, 28th at the Manhattan Beach Pier. All clubs should participate in this fundraiser as Team MCHS. Get community services hours and be altruistic. For more info Room 18.

• Please donate any old running or athletic shoes to Room 72 for the Philanthropic Runner’s Nike-Reuse-A-Shoe drive!


• TLC: The Library Club is having a virtual book discussion of Libba Bray's Beauty Queens with several other school library clubs across the country from 3 PM - 4:30 PM on Wednesday, 4/25. Non-club members are welcome to join this discussion in the library workroom. (please run this thru Wednesday)
• Don't forget to participate in the library's spine poetry contest. Entries are due by Thursday at 3 PM. Either make your poem in the library or email Mrs. Lofton a photo. Come by the library for more information. (please run this thru Thursday)


CLUBS / ORGANIZATION

• The Relay for Life Club meets TODAY at lunch in Room 45 information about making/joining a team will be available.

• Friendship Circle at lunch in Room 114 TODAY.

• Come to Room 5 at lunch TODAY and join Team LA’s festivities. If you’re not here…then where are you?

• Come to Young Republicans’ Club TODAY at lunch in Room 18!

• Come to Teddies with Love Club TODAY at lunch in Room 41!!!

• TLC: The Library Club meets in the library workroom during lunch TODAY.


SPORTS

• Congratulations to the Boys Track Team for winning the South Bay Championships on Saturday night. Senior Kyle Hubbard was handed Athlete of the Meet. Great job by the entire team who clinched another Bay League title last Wednesday night with a victory over Redondo.


SENIORS.

• Seniors: For the 3rd year, Sandacre Scholarship Fund is honored to recognize the GREAT teachers at Mira Costa High School. It’s that time to nominate a teacher who has inspired, prepared and or stimulated his/her students to help them achieve their future endeavors. Please see your senior English teacher for the nomination form. After completing the form, please submit to Denise Anderson’s mailbox on or before May 15th. The winner(s) will be announced at the annual All Awards Assembly, May 31st!

• Seniors: Please come to the attendance office at snack or lunch on Mon., 4/23, Wed., 4/25, Thurs., 4/26 or Fri., 4/27 to pick up your graduation announcements. Only 100% paid orders will be distributed. No payments will be accepted during pick up. Balances must be paid thru Jostens, contact (805)987-4147 for more information.

• Senior Seminar Trip to Magic Mountain! Tickets on sale for $47.00 at the student store 4/24-5/11/12

COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER
• A representative from Montana State University will be in the CCC TODAY, April 24th during period 3. Sign up on Naviance.
