STUDENT INFORMATION

• Tryouts for the 2012-2013 Season are just around the corner. Be sure to pick up your Tryout Packet in the Main Office or download online at www.mchspepsquad.com. Tryouts begin Monday, April 16th. If you've got Spirit, it's what we do. If you love dancing, we want you!

• The Manhattan Beach Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring the 1st “Young Entrepreneurial Award” Any student demonstrating entrepreneurial spirit through starting their own business or non-profit will have the opportunity to submit an application for a $500.00 award.

• This year Reflections Club is holding cover design contest. Turn in any black/white submission to Room 18 or email to [email protected]. Winner will receive a $25 gift card to Pages Book Store!

• It’s Brain Tumor Awareness Week, and S-Club is supporting brain tumor research! FACT: Brain tumors are the leading cause of solid tumor cancer death in children under the age of 20, now surpassing acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). They are the second leading cause of cancer death in male adults ages 20-29 and the fifth leading cause of death in female adults ages 20-39. So please buy a BrainWaves bracelet from S-Club members for $1 and also join us for a fundraiser at Rubio’s TOMORROW (flyers will be given out)! Proceeds will go to BrainWave, a nonprofit which supports new kinds of research for pediatric brain tumors.

• The 12th annual student art show will be held at the Manhattan Beach Creative Arts Center, May 11th thru 19th. All students are encouraged to participate. Entries can be any medium (drawing, painting, photography, sculpture, etc.). See Ms. Martin, Mr. Reichardt, or Ms. Zask in Room 102, 107, or 116 for more information and official entry form. Deadline to submit work is April 30th.

CLUBS / ORGANIZATION

• Attention NHS members: The New Worlds Emerge organization has sent you personalized offers to apply for their travel programs. If interested, come to Room 32 to pick up your letter with more information.

• Don’t be irrational; come to Amnesty International TODAY at lunch in Room 72!!!

• MCHS Dance Team auditions are April 18th, 19th, and 20th. If you love to dance and perform, Dance Team wants you!!! Packets are available in the main office.

• Friendship Circle at lunch TODAY in Room 114.

• Come to Young Republicans’ Club TODAY at lunch in Room 18!!!

• Come to Room 5 at lunch TODAY and join Team LA’s festivities. If you’re not here…then where are you?

• TLC: The Library Club meets during lunch in the library workroom TODAY.

• Want to make the most out of your lunch money? Come to Investors Club on Wednesday in Mr. Geczi’s room, Room 225. No previous investing experience is required.

• Animal Rights Club is collecting towels to donate to the Carson Animal Shelter. Drop off donations in the box in the office, Room 43 or Room 46. Donations will be accepted until 4/13.

• Attention NHS Members: We will have our next all-member meeting this Friday, April 13th in the Auditorium.

• The Neptunian Women’s Club Scholarship application due date has been moved up from April 11th to TODAY, April 10th. Return applications and art/music samples to the CCC by April 10th in order to be considered.

COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER
• PJ Test Prep is offering a free SAT or ACT test and tips seminar Saturday, April 7th. Register at www.pjtestprep.com or come to the CCC for more info.


• Scholarship Opportunity for Seniors: The American Legion is offering a scholarship for seniors with financial need whose family member is active military or in the reserves. Please come to the CCC ASAP if you want to be considered.
