STUDENT INFORMATION
• TODAY is Dippin Dots Day. Stop by the gym afterschool today to enjoy your favorite flavor for just $ 3.00.

• The Mira Costa Counselors present: The Survive, Strive and Thrive Workshop. This great interactive workshop is for all Mira Costa students focusing on how to achieve a healthy balance between reaching your academic goals AND taking care of yourself. The Guidance Counselors are presenting Kelly Mothner, former Mira Costa Alumni on Wednesday, January 11th at 7 pm in the guidance conference room. We hope to see you there!!

• Costa Rica 2013- a few spaces are still available. See Sra. Geczi in Room 47 for details.

• Interested in playing girls lacrosse? Come to a brief meeting on Friday during lunch in the gym to find out more.

• Tryouts for the 2012 Mira Costa Badminton team for both girls and boys will be next Tuesday and Wednesday, January 10th and 11th from 4 to 6 pm at the Manhattan Beach Badminton Club - 516 18th Street Manhattan Beach. See Dr. Wilson in Room 57 for more details.

• It’s time for the Neptunian Woman’s Club Art and Photo Contest! Entry forms are available in the admin. office, or from your Art or Photo teacher. There will be two themes this year: 1) Open Theme and 2) Manhattan Beach 100 Years Celebration. Deadline to turn in entries is Friday, March 9, 2012. Good luck to everyone!

• Track try outs will be held Wednesday and Thursday, Jan. 11th and 12th at 3:15. Come to track dressed to run.

• New time and location for Mira Costa’s first ever Poetry Out Loud Competition, 7 pm in the library on January 11th! Come enjoy a free night of amazing poetry!

• Mandatory meeting for Poetry Out Loud contestants in Room 34 at lunch on Friday!

• SAT Savvy Prep Class signups are finally here. Come to the CCC, Room 18 or Room 50 for more info. Location is MCHS. Website www.satsavvy.info

• Audition packets for the spring musical Fiddler on the Roof are available in Room 1. The forms are due Friday, Jan. 6. Auditions are Jan. 9th, 10th and 11th.

• If you entered the Reflections contest, please collect your submission from Ms. Gardner in the admin. office. Thank you.
• From the Library: Andrea Cremer, author of the best-selling Nightshade adventure/romance series, will be speaking about her work on Friday, January 13 from 2 PM – 3 PM in the library. Come to the library or check the library blog for a flyer with details. Students interested in attending should come to the library to sign up and get a permission slip to be signed by their Period 6 teachers. Teachers interested in bringing their classes should contact Mrs. Lofton.

CLUBS / ORGANIZATIONS
• NHS Members: Don’t forget, we have a meeting this Friday in the auditorium at lunch.

• Cooking Club meets TODAY in Room 5. All are welcome!

• Come to Partners for the Planet TODAY! All new members welcome.

• Come to Girl’s League meeting TODAY in Room 34 at lunch.

• Lend-a-hand Club meeting TODAY! We will be talking about the Holiday Benefit show, so please attend! All new members welcome.

• Young at Heart Club in Room 50. Come and reach out to your community through helping senior citizens

• Come to Key Club TODAY at lunch in Room 78. It will be cool!

SPORTS
• Bring your family & friends to the MC Mustang Wrestling Dinner on Tuesday, January 9th at The Counter in Hermosa Beach. 20% of the proceeds go to support MC Wrestling!! SENIORS
• All graduating seniors are invited to complete a Scholarship Notebook. Notebooks will be reviewed by various local scholarship committees. Any student who wants to complete a Scholarship Notebook MUST come to one of the following three informational meetings in the CCC during lunch on January 5, 10 or 18. Notebooks will be due February 29th.

COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER
• PJ Test Prep is offering a free practice ACT or SAT, Sat., Jan 7th 10am- 2pm with a strategy review session on Sun, Jan 8th 6:30pm – 8pm. RSVP at www.pjtestprep.com spots are limited.

• On Friday, January 6 during lunch in the CCC, all students are welcome to come hear from Costa alums about their respective colleges: Gabby Gold from Georgetown, Zeena Bhakta from Duke, and Kellen Kartub from Wellesley.
