STUDENT INFORMATION
• REMINDER STUDENTS: The attendance office will not sign you out if you are sick! You need to go to the Health Office FIRST to get signed out.
• See your friends perform at the Costa Bands concert, A Midwinter Night's Dream. The concert is Tuesday, December 6th at 7:00 pm in the auditorium. Adults are $5. Students with ID, teachers and children are free. Start the winter season off with great music. See you there!
• Mira Costa Dance Company would like to thank everyone who came out to the dance concert last night. We appreciate the support and hope you had fun! Stay tuned for our spring concert in June!
• Come pick up an application to compete in the national recitation competition “Poetry Out Loud” in Room 34. Applications are due Friday, December 16th!
• All new players interested in trying out for boys’ tennis: Tryouts will be held Tuesday, December 6th and Wednesday, December 7th from 3 to 5pm on the MCHS Tennis Courts. Players must attend both days.
• Mandatory Spain trip 2012 meeting this Wednesday at lunch in Room 48. Salsa Club will meet outside this week due to Spain meeting. See you at room 48!
CLUBS / ORGANIZATIONS
• Love Music? Want to be heard? Come to Street Musicians’ Society Tuesdays at lunch in RG16.
• Come to Red Cross Club Wednesday, 12/7 at lunch in Room 73, join our holiday activities.
• Salsa Club will meet outside this week due to Spain meeting. See you at room 48!
• Do you love to write poetry or short stories? Have a passion for photography, painting or drawing? Submit your work to Reflections Literary magazine and showcase your talents. Please e-mail your submissions to [email protected] or drop them off at Room 18.
SPORTS
• All returning boys’ tennis players: There will be a very brief meeting for all returning players on Tuesday, December 6th at 3:00 at the MCHS Tennis Courts. Any problems, email [email protected].
• "Freshmen Football players who did not attend the awards dinner may pick up certificates, team photos, and plaques from Coach Currier in Room 222" now thru December 7th.
SENIORS
• All seniors need to log onto their Naviance account and input the list of colleges they are applying to. Please do this before Winter Break! If you have any questions or need detailed instructions, please come to the CCC.
• Attn. SENIORS: Colleges MUST receive official SAT and ACT Test scores directly from Collegeboard or ACT. Self-reporting scores on the application is not sufficient to meet this requirement.
• Students who have applied to the Cal States must read their emails from the colleges and check their web accounts carefully. Many Cal States are asking for official transcripts with Dec and/or Jan deadlines. It is the students’ responsibility to make sure these transcripts are sent and received in a timely manner.
• Santa Monica CC and El Camino CC Application Info:
The application is open for Santa Monica College fall applicants. Students considering attending SMCC in the fall should apply ASAP.
The application for El Camino Community College will be open on January 12th.
Students planning on attending a Community College in the fall should apply as soon as applications become available. Students submitting their applications early will receive an earlier registration date.
COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER
• PJ Test Prep is offering a free practice ACT or SAT, Sat., Jan 7th 10am- 2pm with a strategy review session on Sun, Jan 8th 6:30pm – 8pm. RSVP at www.pjtestprep.com spots are limited.
