STUDENT INFORMATION
• Reminder: No school November 21st thru November 25th. Closed for Thanksgiving Break
• Football CIF tickets advance sale: Tickets for Friday’s CIF game at Oaks Christian will be on sale TODAY, at snack in the student store. Adult tickets are $8.00, student/child tickets are $5.00. Payment by cash or check accepted. Please make check payable to MCHS Athletics. Advance tickets are limited, more tickets will be available at the gate.
• Interested in being in the yearbook? If you are going anywhere or doing anything interesting over the Thanksgiving break, contact the yearbook staff at [email protected].
• Attention all poetry lovers: Mira Costa is pleased to announce its first time participating in the nationwide competition, Poetry Out Loud! The competition will be held January 11th at 7:30 pm in Room 1. Contestants must memorize and perform two poems selected from the official Poetry Out Loud online anthology. Visit poetryoutloud.org or see your English teacher for more details. Visit Ms. Sieker in Room 34 to sign up for the competition by Friday, December 16th.
• Submit entries to [email protected] to become a published artist or author in Mira Costa’s literary magazine. Reflections Club meets on Mondays in Room 18 at lunch
CLUBS / ORGANIZATIONS
• Come to the first meeting of Philanthropic Runner’s Club TODAY, 11/18 to help give back to the running community! The meeting will be in Room 72 at lunch. Hope to see you there.
SPORTS
• Frosh Football Awards Banquet Wednesday, November 30, 5:30pm, Cafeteria .RSVP and money by this Friday November 18 to Linda Verbrugge, Anna Frankel , or Coach Currier.
SENIORS
• Senior ADS- seniors can find the senior ads form on the Costa website. Ads turned in by TODAY, November 18th receive 15% off. Ads can be turned into the box in the office.
COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER
• The deadline for applying to the UC’s and Cal States is midnight Wednesday, November 30th. The UC’s and Cal States will not accept applications for fall admissions after this date.
• Spring applications for So Cal ROC courses are in the CCC.
• College Visits in The CCC:
Santa Monica College: TODAY, November 18th – Period 1
Parson’s School of Design in Paris Thursday, December 1- Period 5
Sign up for college visits on Naviance. Students must get permission from their teacher to attend visits.
• High School College Workshop at USC- The Next Generation Committee, in association with the Black Student Assembly and the Latino Assembly, is hosting a High School College Workshop on Saturday, November 19, 20011 from 10am to 3pm. The event is aimed at assisting underrepresented students with their college applications. This event is free and students will be provided with lunch. In order to attend, students must RSVP using the link found on the website, USCBSA.com. Students are welcome to attend whether or not they intend to apply to USC.
