STUDENT INFORMATION
• Reminder Parents and Students: Starting Monday, October 24, All Mira Costa campus parking spots will be by permit only. Visitor parking is limited too visitor designated spots and street parking only. Please plan accordingly when visiting campus.
• STUDENT PARKING LOTTERY:
MCHS will be holding a lottery for the remaining 26 student parking spots in the Peck parking lot. Eligible students may enter their name in the drawing at the attendance office from WED, 10/19/11, through WED, 10/26/11; one entry per student. Entry forms are available in the attendance office during passing period, snack and lunch only. The drawing for the spots will be held in front of the administration building at lunch on FRI, 10/28/11. Winners need not be present to win and will be notified on TUE, 11/1/11.
• PARKING LOT CLOSURE REMINDER:
The Peck Faculty parking lot will close for construction of the new math/science building on Saturday, October 22, 2011. The lot will be closed for approximately 18 months while the construction is in progress. Please make alternate arrangements for drop off and pick up. The city is in the process of creating a drop off zone on both the east and west sides of campus. The west drop off zone runs along Meadows on the school side of the street from Keats to the north end of campus. The east drop off zone runs along the school side of Peck from Stadium Way to the stop sign at Nelson (formerly the entrance to the Peck Faculty lot). Please leave extra time in your morning and afternoon drop off routines to adjust for the new traffic patterns.
• Sweatshirts and Spirit Wear distribution will be TODAY, Thursday and Friday during lunch at the PTSA office in the Admin. Building
• Tomorrow is the Great Shakeout during third period. We will be on a modified schedule. This is a full-scale drill and you are expected to follow your teachers instructions. Thank you for your cooperation
• Don’t forget to participate in our Teen Read Month activities. There’s lots of ways you can participate: - Visit our Scary Books display- Contests galore! Check out a library book and earn a chance to guess the number of candies in our candy jar and win the jar. - Also, enter the bookmark contest, poster contest, or photo contest.
• On October 19, join our Library Club and other library clubs throughout the U.S. for a virtual book club discussion of Hunger Games. Get more information about all these great activities at the library or on the Library Website: mchslibrary.org.
• Attention Students! Homecoming Spirit Week Dress Up Days are as follows: TODAY, 10/19 Wizard Wednesday, 10/20 Animal Thursday, 10/21 Stampede Friday
• Reminder to students attending Homecoming Dance. The MCHS SRDT Administrative team will randomly use the breathalyzer as students arrive for the dance.
• Students interested in learning about on the job training internships with Northrop Gruman, come sign up in counseling office- Mrs. Shortt’s office
• One concert, one night, three exciting groups! You are invited to attend the 4th Annual Prism Concert on Thursday, October 20th at 7:00 pm in the Mira Costa Auditorium. Please join us in a celebration of music as students come together to share their music in this very special evening. Admission is free. The concert will feature the Wind Ensemble, Vocal Ensemble and Symphony Orchestra Strings. Bring your family and friends and enjoy an evening of beautiful music. See you at the concert!

• Attention all Seniors: If you have not taken your senior photo, please call Ralf’s Photography at (310) 322-0069, to schedule a photo time. If you don’t schedule it by Friday, October 21st, you will not be included in the yearbook.
SPORTS
• Boys Volleyball Tryouts will be held on Monday, October 24th in the Main Gym. Freshmen will tryout from 3:00-4:30, and all other grades from 4:30-6:30. Any questions, see Mr. Ninnis in Room 52.

• Students taking the PLAN test this Sat, October 22 should check the lists outside the main office or the library to find out their room assignment. Students must report to their assigned classroom at 7:45 am. Students should bring a photo ID, two #2 pencils and a calculator.
