STUDENT INFORMATION

• Students who ordered Costa Gear can pick them up during lunch at the student store Wednesday, 9/21 and Thursday 9/22/11.

• REMINDER: MCHS Back to School Night is Thursday, September 22, 2011

• Minimum Day Schedule Friday, September 23, 2011

• STUDENTS! It is your responsibility to lock up all of your personal belongings in the lockers during P.E. Failure to do so may result in theft of your belongings. Be safe not sorry.

• Students who have an “excused 0, 1st, 5th or 6th period” or surf team on their schedule need to come to the Guidance Office to get an “Off-Grounds sticker” placed on their student ID card. Off-Grounds will be issued before school, at snack, at lunch, or after school only. Please do not come during class time. If you are stopped by the police without the Off-Grounds sticker on your ID card, you may be subject to a truancy citation.

• Attention Seniors and Juniors: there are a limited number of parking spaces still available. We will sell parking passes to juniors TODAY – 9/21 during SNACK AND LUNCH ONLY at the Attendance Office. After 9/21, any available parking passes will be sold on a first come first served basis.

• Audition Packets for the Fall Play “You Can’t Take It With You” are available in Room 1 this week. Auditions are Wed., Sept. 21st, 3-6 pm in Room 1. See Ms. Mathews for info.

• All horseback riding students interested in participating in the upcoming Interscholastic Equestrian League (IEL) horse shows for this coming season please come to Miss. Hart for the forms. If you have any questions, please e-mail Catherine Coan at [email protected]

• From the library: Library bookmark and Poster contests. Do you like to draw or paint? Would you like to help promote libraries? Then, enter the Manhattan Beach Public Library Bookmark contest and the California School Library Association @yourlibrary Student Poster contest. Check the Mira Costa library blog (miracostahighlibrary.edublogs.org) or come by the library for entry forms and details about deadlines and prizes.

• Model UN Summer School Students! Come sign up for your Fall conferences in Room 202. ASAP!!!

• The Fall 10th and 11th grade parent presentations is now on our website under new. Please view for updated information on graduation requirements, college requirement, testing information, etc.

• The Mira Costa counseling department has their own Twitter account. Please follow us for announcements, reminders, updates, etc. at counseling MCHS

• Be sure to come by the library and have a look at the great “Art of the Surf” artwork by Ms. Martin, Mr. Reichardt, and Ms. Zask’s students.

• California Scholarship Federation Membership Drive will be TODAY thru September 24th. Eligibility lists are posted on the door of room 76 where you may pick up an application. Please check the CSF link on our Mira Costa website for more information.

• Come Fiesta with us Salsa Style! TODAY, 9/21 at lunch in Room 48.

• Come to Richstone Club! First meeting TODAY, 9/21 in Room 18.

• The first BSU meeting will be TODAY, 9/21 in room 66 at lunch time.

• Come to the first Growing Great Club meeting this Thursday, 9/22 in Room 15. Come get yummy food. Everyone is welcome!

• The Badminton Club meets TODAY, 9/21 in Room 57. New players will be briefed on opportunities to play badminton, there will be instructional videos and we will be discussing tournaments.

• Lend a Hand Club meets Thursday, 9/22 at lunch in Room 41

• Due to the lack of attendance at Tuesdays Club Council Meeting, there will be a follow up meeting on Thursday, 9/22. Important for clubs that want homecoming nominations!

• ATTENTION SENIORS TAKING THE OCTOBER SAT AND JUNIORS TAKING THE PSAT:
On September 24th and 25th in Room 14 at Mira Costa High School, Catalyst Prep will be giving a SAT Bootcamp. You'll arm yourself with a strategy for every type of question guaranteed to be on the exam, and learn how to avoid the most common traps. The cost is just $165. • Catalyst has EXTENDED the registration deadline for the SAT Bootcamp at Mira Costa! The new registration deadline is Thursday, September 22nd at noon. You may register at www.catalystprep.com or call 800.235.0056. Flyers are available in the CCC.

• The employee packet from the District Office was put in your mailbox. Return the completed 2-sided district form (Emergency Form and Checklist) to the Principal secretary box in the mail room by Wednesday, September 28.
