STUDENT INFORMATION
• Students who have an “excused 0, 1st, 5th or 6th period” or surf team on their schedule need to come to the Guidance Office to get an “Off-Grounds sticker” placed on their student ID card. Off-Grounds will be issued before school, at snack, at lunch, or after school only. Please do not come during class time. If you are stopped by the police without the Off-Grounds sticker on your ID card, you may be subject to a truancy citation.

• Any boy interested in tryouts for soccer, meet coach Smith in Room 26 after school, TODAY thru Friday, Sept. 14th thru 16th. Come ready to play.

• Detention schedule will be starting TODAY and continue every Tuesday/Thursday 7:00 am, room 101 and every Monday/Wednesday 3:15-4:15, Room 101

• If you ordered a Stampede shirt during registration, please come by Room 43 TODAY thru Friday at lunch.

• Looking to get more involved? Want to join one of the best and most rewarding clubs on campus? If your answer is yes, then Friendship Circle is just for you! At Friendship Circle, General Ed students are given the opportunity to interact and provide support for Mira Costa’s Special Needs students by hanging out, having fun, sharing lunch, and generally brightening up their day. Come join us for this very impactful club as we start off with an introductory meeting on Friday September 16, during lunch in room 43.

• TLC: The Library Club: Do you love books and reading? Would you like to meet other people who do? Would you like to support the library by helping to plan programs and providing community service? Come to an organizational meeting of The Library Club during lunch today to learn about the club and how you can get involved. The club will meet in the library. Bring your lunch and arrive early. The library will NOT be open for other visits during lunch today, so that The Library Club can meet.

• The library will be closed from TODAY from 1:30 – 3 PM. It will reopen from 3 – 5 PM.

• Attention Seniors and Juniors: there are a limited number of parking spaces still available. Continuing TODAY, we will sell parking passes to seniors thru Thursday, 9/15 during SNACK AND LUNCH ONLY at the Attendance Office. We will sell parking passes to juniors for 3 days (9/16, 9/20 – 9/21) during SNACK AND LUNCH ONLY at the Attendance Office. After 9/21, any available parking passes will be sold on a first come first served basis.

• Audition Packets for the Fall Play “You Can’t Take It With You” are available in Room 1 this week. Auditions are Tues, Sept. 20th and Wed., Sept. 21st, 3-6 pm in Room 1. See Ms. Mathews for info.

• All horseback riding students interested in participating in the upcoming Interscholastic Equestrian League (IEL) horse shows for this coming season please come to Miss. Hart for the forms. If you have any questions, please e-mail Catherine Coan at [email protected]



CLUBS / ORGANIZATIONS
• California Scholarship Federation Membership Drive will be TODAY thru September 24th. Eligibility lists are posted on the door of room 76 where you may pick up an application. Please check the CSF link on our Mira Costa website for more information.

• Come to an information meeting about joining MCHS Science Olympiad Squad to see if you are the solute to our solvent, TODAY, 9/14 at lunch in Ms. Whitlock’s room, Room 77.

• Come to the Drama room, Room 1 TODAY for Drama club . Just do it!

• Need community service hours? Come to Red Cross Club TODAY, September 14th in Room 73 at lunch.

• Come Fiesta with us. Salsa Style! Join us in Room 48 at lunch TODAY, 9/14.

• Heart 2 Art meeting Thursday, 9/15 in Room 120. Cupcakes will be provided.

• The Badminton Club meets at lunch TODAY in room 57. Come to this first meeting if you are interested in playing on the team for the spring season, or if you just like playing badminton.

COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER
• ATTENTION SENIORS TAKING THE OCTOBER SAT AND JUNIORS TAKING THE PSAT:
On September 24th and 25th in Room 14 at Mira Costa High School, Catalyst Prep will be giving a SAT Bootcamp. You'll arm yourself with a strategy for every type of question guaranteed to be on the exam, and learn how to avoid the most common traps. The cost is just $165. Deadline to register is Monday, September 19th. Sign up at www.CatalystPrep.com or call 800.235.0056.

• SENIORS:
The directions for requests for Letters of Recommendation are on Naviance and the Mira Costa High School website under College and Career Center. Please follow these directions carefully.

• PSAT and PLAN Test Registration will take place THIS WEEK, TODAY – 9/16 in the student store at lunch. Cost is $25 per exam. Make checks payable to MCHS. Space is limited so sign up early to guarantee a spot. Late Registration will take place September 19-21 in the student store. Cost will be $35 per exam. There will be NO registration allowed after Sept. 21st!! The PSAT test will be given on Sat., Oct. 15th at 8am. The PSAT is designed for juniors, but sophomores and freshman are allowed to take the exam. It is recommended that you are in Algebra 3-4 or higher if taking the PSAT. The PLAN test will be given on Sat., Oct. 22nd at 8am and is for sophomores only.

• Letter of Recommendation Workshop Friday 9/16 at lunch in the CCC. Come learn the new process for the letter of recommendation process at Mira Costa. The instructions can be found at www.miracostahigh.org under “College and Career Center” and on Naviance.

FACULTY
• The employee packet from the District Office was put in your mailbox. Return the completed 2-sided district form (Emergency Form and Checklist) to the Principal secretary box in the mail room by Wednesday, September 28.
