STUDENT INFORMATION
• Students, it’s your turn to vote for the 2011-2012 student planner custom covers. All entries are displayed in the cafeteria. The faculty and staff picked the top 10, but there was a tie for the 10th-most vote-getter, so we have a top 11 this year. You will vote for the 3 winners who will each get $100 American Express gift card and have their covers on next years’ planners. Voting will take place TODAY in the cafeteria at lunch time. Each student gets 1 vote and ASB will be checking IDs.
• JUNIOR CLASS ASSEMBLY
TODAY, 4/21, there will be a mandatory assembly for all 11th grade students during period 2 in the auditorium.
Please follow these simple instructions on Thursday to help us facilitate this important event:
• All 11th grade students should report directly to their 2nd period class.
• Teachers of classes that contain ONLY 11th grade students (EX: ENG 5/6, US History) should take roll, and then accompany their students to the auditorium.
• Teachers of classes that are mixed grade levels (EX: ceramics) should take roll and then send their 11th grade students to the auditorium. Security staff will be in the halls to make sure the unaccompanied 11th graders make it to the auditorium.
• The assembly will take the full period and students will be released to snack at the close of the presentation.
• AP Students; the final three AP Exam pre-identification sessions are scheduled as follows:
Wednesday, April 27 3:30 pm Small Gym
Each meeting will last approximately 40 minutes. Students must attend one and need to be on time, bring a #2 pencil and something (a clipboard, book, etc.) on which to write.
• SAT Savvy Prep Class-Register for the 3rd and final session by April 22nd to get the discount. Come to Room 18, 50, or CCC for more info.
• National Honor Society is having a book drive! Please bring any elementary level books to Room 32 by
May 9th. Thank you!
• SAT Savvy Prep Class here at Mira Costa get prepared for the June 4th test and sign up by April 22nd to get the discount. More info in Room 18, 50, or CCC.
• The next In-N-Out Honor Roll Recognition Event will be held Tuesday, April 26th and all eligible students must bring their current Mira Costa I.D’s to the school auditorium to participate. This event is for students who earned a G.P.A. of 3.5 or higher at Mira Costa last semester. The In-N-Out burgers will be served during the regular lunch period, and grilled cheese sandwiches will also be available. In addition, a complimentary lunch will be served to all teachers and staff members, beginning at 12:00 noon.
• It’s Brain Tumor Awareness Week! FACT: There are over 120 different types of brain tumors, which make effective treatment complicated buy a bracelet!
CLUBS / ORGANIZATIONS
• Do you want to cheer your Mustangs on to victory next year? Do you love to dance? Well here’s your chance to take your talents and share them with us all. Tryouts for the MCHS Cheer and Song Squads are just around the corner. Pick up a tryout packet in the Main Office or visit our website www.mchspepsquad.com.
• Join the Mira Costa High School team for the Richstone Pier to Pier Walkathon fundraiser at Chipotle restaurant in Hermosa 50% of your purchase will be donated to Richstone Family Center. Get a flyer from Heart to Art to participate.
• Come to Partners for the Planet Club TODAY during lunch in Room 205. New members are always welcome.
• New Life Christian Club meeting TODAY in Mrs. Manago’s room, Room 66.
• Come to Foreign Film Club TODAY at lunch in Room 19.
• Lend a Hand Club TODAY at lunch in Room 41!
SENIORS
• If you did not pickup your Graduation Announcements, you may pick them up at the Attendance Office 4/21, 4/22 at snack and lunch only

• For the 2nd year, Sandacre Scholarship Fund is honored to recognize the GREAT teachers at Mira Costa High School. It’s that time to nominate a teacher who has inspired, prepared and or stimulated his/her students to help them achieve their future endeavors. Please see your senior English teacher for the nomination form. After completing the form, please put it in Denise Anderson’s mailbox on or before May 11th. The winners will be announced at the annual All Awards Assembly, May 26th!
SPORTS
COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER
• Seniors signing up for Art scholarships should bring in a CD or portfolio of your art work. The CCC will submit your art along with your scholarship notebook to the various art scholarship donors.
• El Camino will be administering English and Math Placement Tests TODAY, 4/21 during periods 5 and 6 in the computer lab. Sign up in the CCC.
FACULTY
• TODAY is Recycling Thursday. Please have a student take your classroom bin to the recycling center on Stadium Way behind Room 74. Thank you.
