STUDENT INFORMATION
• Students, it’s your turn to vote for the 2011-2012 student planner custom covers. All entries are displayed in the cafeteria. The faculty and staff picked the top 10, but there was a tie for the 10th-most vote-getter, so we have a top 11 this year. You will vote for the 3 winners who will each get $100 American Express gift card and have their covers on next years’ planners. Voting will take place TODAY and Thursday in the cafeteria at lunch time. Each student gets 1 vote and ASB will be checking IDs.
• JUNIOR CLASS ASSEMBLY
This Thursday, 4/21, there will be a mandatory assembly for all 11th grade students during period 2 in the auditorium.
Please follow these simple instructions on Thursday to help us facilitate this important event:
• All 11th grade students should report directly to their 2nd period class.
• Teachers of classes that contain ONLY 11th grade students (EX: ENG 5/6, US History) should take roll, and then accompany their students to the auditorium.
• Teachers of classes that are mixed grade levels (EX: ceramics) should take roll and then send their 11th grade students to the auditorium. Security staff will be in the halls to make sure the unaccompanied 11th graders make it to the auditorium.
• The assembly will take the full period and students will be released to snack at the close of the presentation.
• AP Students; the final three AP Exam pre-identification sessions are scheduled as follows:

Each meeting will last approximately 40 minutes. Students must attend one and need to be on time, bring a #2 pencil and something (a clipboard, book, etc.) on which to write.
• La Vista is at it again with its annual photo contest. Submit photos for categories of person, place or thing. If you win we will swag you out with great prizes. Submit to the La Vista room TODAY. April 20th during 4th period or lunch.
• SAT Savvy Prep Class-Register for the 3rd and final session by April 22nd to get the discount. Come to Room 18, 50, or CCC for more info.
• National Honor Society is having a book drive! Please bring any elementary level books to Room 32 by
May 9th. Thank you!
• Spain Trip 2012!!!! Come to Room 48 TODAY at lunch for more info.
• It’s Brain Tumor Awareness Week this week! FACT: Brain tumors are the leading cause of solid tumor cancer death in children under the age of 20.
• SAT Savvy Prep Class here at Mira Costa get prepared for the June 4th test and sign up by April 22nd to get the discount. More info in Room 18, 50, or CCC.
CLUBS / ORGANIZATIONS
• Attention Potential Dance Team Members,
The MCHS Dance Team Tryouts originally scheduled for April 18 - April 21 have been rescheduled to May 16 - May 19. We apologize for any inconveniences and we look forward to seeing many students at the tryouts in May.
• Do you want to cheer your Mustangs on to victory next year? Do you love to dance? Well here’s your chance to take your talents and share them with us all. Tryouts for the MCHS Cheer and Song Squads are just around the corner. Pick up a tryout packet in the Main Office or visit our website www.mchspepsquad.com.
• Join the Mira Costa High School team for the Richstone Pier to Pier Walkathon fundraiser at Chipotle restaurant in Hermosa 50% of your purchase will be donated to Richstone Family Center. Get a flyer from Heart to Art to participate.
• Come to Drama Club in Room 1 at lunch TODAY
• H2O for Life club meets TODAY in Room 61 during lunch.
• Red Cross club meets TODAY in Room 73 at lunch. If you have 10 dollars to donate please bring it in.
• Commissioner Packets for ASB are due TODAY by 3:00 to Ms. Claypoole’s room. Room 43 or Ms. Claypoole’s box in admin. Office.
SENIORS
• Seniors! If you are signing with a sport in college, please email your name, sport, and college to [email protected]. Thanks!
• If you did not pickup your Graduation Announcements, you may pick them up at the Attendance Office the week of 4/18-4/22 snack and lunch only
• Hey Seniors! Don’t wait until the last minute to turn in your photos for the senior slideshow. Email them to [email protected], or turn them into the Green Box in the office. Thanks
SPORTS
• Come support Boys Lacrosse as they play Palos Verdes at PV High TODAY at 4:00 pm. Come show your support and wear your green and gold.
COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER
• Seniors signing up for Art scholarships should bring in a CD or portfolio of your art work. The CCC will submit your art along with your scholarship notebook to the various art scholarship donors.
• El Camino will be administering English and Math Placement Tests Thursday, 4/21 during periods 5 and 6 in the computer lab. Sign up in the CCC.
