STUDENT INFORMATION
• Students, it’s your turn to vote for the 2011-2012 student planner custom covers. All entries are displayed in the cafeteria. The faculty and staff picked the top 10, but there was a tie for the 10th-most vote-getter, so we have a top 11 this year. You will vote for the 3 winners who will each get $100 American Express gift card and have their covers on next years’ planners. Voting will take place TODAY, Wednesday, and Thursday in the cafeteria at lunch time. Each student gets 1 vote and ASB will be checking IDs.
• Reminder: Wednesday, April 20 will be a Department Meeting Schedule, Zero period does not meet
• AP Students; the final three AP Exam pre-identification sessions are scheduled as follows:
TODAY, April 19 7:30 pm Small Gym
Wednesday, April 27 3:30 pm Small Gym
Each meeting will last approximately 40 minutes. Students must attend one and need to be on time, bring a #2 pencil and something (a clipboard, book, etc.) on which to write.
• La Vista is at it again with its annual photo contest. Submit photos for categories of person, place or thing. If you win we will swag you out with great prizes. Submit to the La Vista room before April 20th during 4th period or lunch.
• SAT Savvy Prep Class-Register for the 3rd and final session by April 22nd to get the discount. Come to Room 18, 50, or CCC for more info.
• National Honor Society is having a book drive! Please bring any elementary level books to Room 32 by May 9th. Thank you!
• Spain Trip 2010!!!! Come to Room 48 on Wednesday at lunch for more info.
• Don’t delay! Sign up TODAY for the UC/CSU approved Fashion Design course this summer at Mira Costa High School. Have fun while you learn about the exciting, fast-paced fashion industry. • The Mira Costa Library welcomes author DJ MacHale today. Students and classes that signed up to attend his presentations Periods 2, 3, and 4, please come directly to the library at the beginning of the period. Do not go to your classroom first. Everyone is welcome to come buy copies of his books in the library foyer during Snack or Lunch and get your book autographed. The library will be closed for other business today until Period 6.
• It’s Brain Tumor Awareness Week this week! FACT: Each year more than 200,000 people in the U.S. are diagnosed with a primary or metastatic brain tumor. 4,000 of these are children.

CLUBS / ORGANIZATIONS

The MCHS Dance Team Tryouts originally scheduled for April 18 - April 21 have been rescheduled to May 16 - May 19. We apologize for any inconveniences and we look forward to seeing many students at the tryouts in May.
• Do you want to cheer your Mustangs on to victory next year? Do you love to dance? Well here’s your chance to take your talents and share them with us all. Tryouts for the MCHS Cheer and Song Squads are just around the corner. Pick up a tryout packet in the Main Office or visit our website www.mchspepsquad.com.
• Join the Mira Costa High School team for the Richstone Pier to Pier Walkathon fundraiser at Chipotle restaurant in Hermosa 50% of your purchase will be donated to Richstone Family Center. Get a flyer from Heart to Art to participate.

SPORTS
• Chipotle for sale at the swim meet vs. PV TODAY at 3pm. Come and support your team and eat Chipotle.
COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER
• Seniors signing up for Art scholarships should bring in a CD or portfolio of your art work. The CCC will submit your art along with your scholarship notebook to the various art scholarship donors.
• El Camino will be administering English and Math Placement Tests Thursday, 4/21 during periods 5 and 6 in the computer lab. Sign up in the CCC.
