STUDENT INFORMATION

• La Vista is at it again with its annual photo contest. Submit photos for categories of person, place or thing. If you win we will swag you out with great prizes. Submit to the La Vista room before April 20th during 4th period or lunch.

• Author D.J. MacHale’s visit is just one week away, on April 19. If you would like to attend one of the assemblies on the day of his visit, come by the library to sign up. Also, consider buying a copy of one or more of his books so you can get him to sign it during his visit.

• Congratulations to Chiaki Noda, winner of the drawing for California Young Reader Medal voting. Chiaki one a copy of If I Stay, one of the CYRM medal nominees for 2011-2012.

• AP Commitment forms and Waiver forms are now available under News on the Costa Website (miracostahigh.org). These forms are to be turned in during lunch TODAY, April 11-15 at the student store.

• AP Students: Rosters for the 2011 AP Exams have now been posted on the front windows for the Administration Building showing room assignments and times. Please check the rosters ASAP. If you’re registered and do not see your name, please see Ms. Norris in the office immediately.

• Don’t delay! Sign up today for the UC/CSU approved Fashion Design course this summer at Mira Costa High School. Have fun while you learn about the exciting, fast paced fashion industry. Learn how to design and sew your own fashions. Limited space-register today! If you have any questions, stop by Room 112 during nutrition and see Fashion Design instructor, Ms. Cox.

• AP Students: The first AP exam pre-identification session is Thursday, April 14th at 7:00 a.m. in the small gym. The meeting will last approximately 40 minutes. Students need to be on time, and bring a #2 pencil and something ( a clipboard, book, etc.) on which to write.

• April 15th-Day of Silence. Students across the country will take a vow of silence to call attention to the silencing effect of anti LGBT bullying and harassment in schools. Mira Costa and hundreds of thousands of students across the country will take part in this student led action to educate their schools and communities and to encourage others to address the problem of anti LGBT behavior in schools.


CLUBS / ORGANIZATIONS

• Charitable Couture meeting TODAY, speaker from TOMS shoes will be there. Everybody welcome.

• H2O for Life Club meets TODAY during lunch in Room 61.

• Attention NHS Members: Don’t forget that we are collecting member dues all this week during lunch. Please bring $20.00 in cash or check from to Room 32. Checks should be made out to MCHS.

• Do you want to cheer your Mustangs on to victory next year? Do you love to dance? Well here’s your chance to take your talents and share them with us all. Tryouts for the MCHS Cheer and Song Squads are just around the corner. Pick up a tryout packet in the Main Office or visit our website www.mchspepsquad.com.

• Relay for Life Club is looking for bands interested in competing in a battle of the bands at the relay on May 14th. Contact Jenny Anderson: [email protected].

• TLC: The Library Club meets in the library workroom during lunch TODAY.

• ASB board and class officer election packets are due by 3:00 Wednesday, April 13th to either Room 43 or Mrs. Claypoole’s box in the office.

• Help Latino Scholars Union raise money for Relay for Life this Thursday from 3 to 9 at Rubios Restaurant in Manhattan Beach. Be sure to bring the flyer when you come to eat.

• Do you call yourself an LA Sportz Fan? Come to Room 5 at lunch TODAY and join in on Team LA’s discussions and festivities.

• Seniors signing up for Art scholarships should bring in a CD or portfolio of your art work. The CCC will submit your art along with your scholarship notebook to the various art scholarship donors.
