STUDENT INFORMATION
• WANT THE PRESTIGE of having YOUR ART on the cover of MIRA COSTA’s STUDENT PLANNER NEXT YEAR AND WIN a $100 American Express GIFT CERTIFICATE? 3 Mira Costa students’ art will be featured on next year’s student planner cover, and each of the 3 artists will win a $100 American Express gift card!

To enter, submit your vision of Mira Costa in any medium (pencil, paint, graphics, etc.) in a 5 x 8 format to Shari Humphrey in the admin. bldg. by March 31st. Express yourself using any colors, designs, and school appropriate creativity. All entries will be displayed, and faculty and students will each have 1 vote to nominate the three winners. The contest is open to all current Mira Costa students. Previously submitted designs are welcome. You may enter as many pieces as you want.

• Please Help Japan: The Relief Japan 2011 Fund is an organization created to assist Japan raise money for the damages caused by the earthquake and tsunami. Any donations, even a penny, would help. Please place donations in the box in Mrs. Geczi’s room, Room 47.

• The library will be closed until 10:20 AM TODAY (Thursday). The library will be closed all day on Friday. Sorry for the inconvenience. Please visit another time.

• It’s time to vote for the 2011-2012 California Young Reader Medal nominees. If you read Hunger Games, The Adoration of Jenna Fox, and Unwind, you can vote for this year’s medalist. Come by the library or visit the library blog to access the ballot. The deadline to vote is March 31. All students who vote will be entered in a drawing for a copy of one of next year’s nominees.

• The library is currently featuring displays of several class projects, including work from Ms. Rossell, Ms. Tower, Ms. Martin, and Mr. McAvin’s students.

• Attention current Sophomores and Juniors: If you have not turned in your scheduling form to select classes for next year, be sure to turn them in ASAP. Each Counselor has a box outside their office for late schedule returns.

• Applications to join the nationally award-winning Mustang Morning News Staff are due this Friday. For info and application forms visit our website www.mustangmorningnews.com or see Mr. Hernandez in Room 108.

• Come watch the Comedy Sportz team complete against Palos Verdes this Friday at 7:00 in the Drama room, Room 1. All proceeds go to the Japan relief effort. $ 5 at the door.

CLUBS / ORGANIZATIONS
• Do you want to cheer your Mustangs on to victory next year? Do you love to dance? Well here’s your chance to take your talents and share them with us all. Tryouts for the MCHS Cheer and Song Squads are just around the corner. Pick up a tryout packet in the Main Office or visit our website www.mchspepsquad.com.

• Relay for Life Club is looking for bands interested in competing in a battle of the bands at the relay on May 14th. Contact Jenny Anderson: [email protected].

COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER
• The “Debra Bowen for Congress Campaign” is looking for interns to help with her bid for Congress. This is an opportunity to gain valuable political experience and learn how a congressional campaign is run. More info is available in the CCC or email the campaign office at [email protected].

• Seniors signing up for Art scholarships should bring in a CD or portfolio of your art work. The CCC will submit your art along with your scholarship notebook to the various art scholarship donors.

• March is Career Month at Costa, Friday is Careers in Business and Government all day. All students are invited to the CCC during lunch on Friday, March 25th to hear from and FBI agent, city councilman, business owner, and marketing and business managers. No sign ups required.
