STUDENT INFORMATION
• Any student who is sick MUST go to the health office to be released from school. If your parents come to school to pick you up for illness, they will be directed to the Health office, you need to be in the health office. The attendance office will not release you!!
• Presentations about the course expectations for AP and Honors courses are being held over the next few weeks during lunch. If you are interested in taking any AP or Honors course you must attend the meeting for that course. The following is a list of dates for all of the course's presentations:

• WANT THE PRESTEIGE of having YOUR ART on the cover of MIRA COSTA’s STUDENT PLANNER NEXT YEAR AND WIN a $100 American Express GIFT CERTIFICATE? 3 Mira Costa students’ art will be featured on next year’s student planner cover, and each of the 3 artists will win a $100 American Express gift card!
To enter, submit your vision of Mira Costa in any medium (pencil, paint, graphics, etc.) in a 5 x 8 format to Shari Humphrey in the admin. bldg. by March 31st. Express yourself using any colors, designs, and school appropriate creativity. All entries will be displayed, and faculty and students will each have 1 vote to nominate the three winners. The contest is open to all current Mira Costa students. Previously submitted designs are welcome. You may enter as many pieces as you want.
• Any new players interested in trying out for the Baseball team, tryouts will be TODAY, 2/15, and Wed. 2/16 on the baseball field at 3pm. If you have any questions contact Coach Olson in Room 203.
• Come by the library this week to see the display of great love stories organized by TLC: The Library Club. And, please have a heart. Return any overdue books NOW so that other students have a chance to borrow them. The library currently has a moratorium on fines. Get your books in right away before the moratorium ends.
• Redondo Beach sister cities is inviting Mira Costa students who are interested in participating in an exchange with their sister city in China. If you are interested in going to China during Spring Break on a sister city exchange, see Mr. Mancilla for further info. Deadline is February 20th.
CLUBS / ORGANIZATIONS
• Lend-a-Hand Sock Drive! Please bring in a pair of new socks to help warm feet of those in need! Collection will continue through February; collection boxes can be found in the office, library, and ASB Room.
• Charitable Couture meeting TODAY, Tuesday in Room 223. There will be a guest speaker and pizza!
• Students! If you traveled anywhere awesome or did something unusual this winter break, yearbook needs you! Let us know what you did ASAP. Send us an email: miracostayearbook @gmail.com or come to room 9 TODAY at lunch.
• Do you call yourself an LA Sports fan? Come to Room 5 at lunch TODAY and join in on Team LA’s discussions and festivities.

• Sign-ups for the Ping Pong Tournament at the student store at lunch, TODAY - Friday 2/15-2/18
COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER
• A representative from the U.S Naval Academy (Annapolis) will be in the CCC February 16th during 4th period.
No sign ups required.
• Adam Ingersoll is giving a presentation about college admission testing on Thursday, Feb. 17 at 7 pm in the auditorium.
• Seniors completing a Scholarship Notebook should pick up their transcripts from the CCC TODAY thru Friday in order to complete the notebook. Completed notebooks are due Mon. 2/28 by end of lunch.
FACULTY
• Staff and Teachers: Ballots are in your box for the 2010-11 “Student of the Year”. Make sure you completely fill out the ballot and return it to Bill Fauver’s box before 1:00 pm on Thursday, 2/17/11.
