• Presentations about the course expectations for AP and Honors courses are being held over the next few weeks during lunch. If you are interested in taking any AP or Honors course you must attend the meeting for that course. The following is a list of dates for all of the course's presentations:

• Starting TODAY, students that have an “excused 1st,5th or 6th period” or surf team on their schedule need to come to the Guidance Office to get an “Off -Grounds sticker” placed on their student ID card. Off-grounds will be issued before school, at snack, at lunch or after school only. Please do not come during class time. If you are stopped by the police without the Off- Grounds sticker on your ID card, you may be subject to a truancy citation.

• All students interested in going on the Tall Ship Expedition: there will be a mandatory meeting , Wed. at lunch in Room 63.

• Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1964.

• Valentine’s Day is right around the corner. You can now purchase a Val-gram for your loved ones everyday this week at lunch in front of the student store. $1.00- lollipops, $2.00-carnations, $3.00 for both.

• Students! If you traveled anywhere awesome or did something unusual this winter break, yearbook needs you! Let us know what you did ASAP. Send us an email: miracostayearbook @gmail.com or come to room 9 TODAY at lunch.

• Redondo Beach sister cities is inviting Mira Costa students who are interested in participating in an exchange with their sister city in China. If you are interested in going to China during Spring Break on a sister city exchange, see Mr. Mancilla for further info. Deadline is February 20th.

• Reminder: Wednesday, February 9th Department meeting schedule, first period 10am, zero period does not meet.

• AP students: Did you miss registering for the AP exams? There will be late registration TODAY at lunch only at the student store. An additional fee of $15 for each exam will be charged.


CLUBS / ORGANIZATIONS

• Lend-a-Hand Sock Drive! Please bring in a pair of new socks to help warm feet of those in need! Collection will continue through February; collection boxes can be found in the office, library, and ASB Room.

• Come to Improv Club at lunch in Room 1. We will be preparing for the Comedy Sportz Match this Friday.

• TLC: The Library Club meets in the library workroom during lunch TODAY. New members are welcome

• Good luck to the Mira Costa Cheerleading Team for their upcoming National competition this week in Florida. Congratulations ladies!!!

• Come to Habitat for Humanity TODAY at lunch in Room 20.

• Do you call yourself an LA sports fan? Come to Room 5 at lunch TODAY and join in on Team LA’s discussions and festivities.

• No Charitable Coutoure meeting TODAY, next meeting Tuesday, Feb. 15th


SENIORS

• Please remind your parents that there will be a spring senior parent meeting TODAY, February 8th at 7:00 pm in the Auditorium.

• There will be a presentation about summer programs at USC TODAY, February 8 during lunch in the CCC. No sign-ups are required.
