STUDENT INFORMATION

• Neptunian Woman’s Club Music and Writing Contest - The Neptunian Woman's Club of Manhattan Beach is participating in a statewide music and writing contest sponsored by the General Federation of Woman's Clubs and the Marina District #18 of the California Federation of Woman's Clubs. For the music contest, categories are Vocalist, Pianist, and Instrumentalist. Entries must be submitted on a CD and will not be returned. The deadline for submissions is January 31, 2011. Applications can be picked up in the office or can be printed off the Mira Costa website.

• Hermosa Valley School needs HVS alumni to be cabin leaders for the 6th grade Outdoor Science School in Malibu. The Outdoor School will take place from Monday, March 14th to Friday, March 18th. Application deadline is Friday, January 28th. Please contact Mr. Hecker at [email protected].

• Session 1 SAT Savvy prep course begins Saturday, February 5th. Come sign up in Room 18 or 50.

• Come by the library and see the new display of paintings from collages by Ms. Martin’s Art classes and of Shakespeare posters by Mr. McAvin’s English.

• The after school library and homework help session will be held in the CCC this afternoon from 3 PM – 5 PM. Since the library is being used for a meeting. Students wanting to study or get homework help after school, please go to the CCC today.

• Talent Show audition participants- due to some scheduling changes the audition schedule has been changed slightly. Check your time at the following locations: Room 40 (doors), Room 43 (doors), student store (windows), and the auditorium box office (windows).


CLUBS / ORGANIZATIONS

• Club Day is TODAY at lunch so bring your money to help support our clubs on campus.


SENIORS

• Attn Seniors: If you applied to Cal State Channel Islands you need to submit an official transcript by Jan. 31 in order for your application to be considered complete.
Other Cal State campuses will notify you through your web portal account if they need a transcript.





SPORTS

• Girls Lacrosse try-outs TODAY, January 19th. Can you handle it? Meet on the turf at 4:30. Bring your gear and running shoes. Newbies are welcome.

• The soccer tournament starts Thursday, January 20th. Meet in Waller Stadium with your team Thursday at lunch.

• Water polo snack stand will be open this Wed the 19th.


COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER

• Southern California ROC representative Pat Morrow will be discussing new spring courses offered by So Cal ROC on January 24th ( changed from January 19th) during lunch in the CCC. These courses are free to students, and bus service is available. Some of these courses are UC approved.

• Attention seniors:The Assistant Director of Financial Aid for USC will be giving a Financial Aid Presentation this Wednesday, January 19th @ 6:30 pm in the auditorium.

• A representative from El Camino Community College will be in the CCC TODAY, Jan 19th during period 3. Please sign up on Naviance or in the CCC.

• The last opportunity for seniors to attend one of the mandatory meetings required in order to complete a Scholarship Notebook is this Thursday, Jan 20th @ lunch in the CCC.
