STUDENT INFORMATION
• Neptunian Woman’s Club Music and Writing Contest - The Neptunian Woman's Club of Manhattan Beach is participating in a statewide music and writing contest sponsored by the General Federation of Woman's Clubs and the Marina District #18 of the California Federation of Woman's Clubs. For the music contest, categories are Vocalist, Pianist, and Instrumentalist. Entries must be submitted on a CD and will not be returned. The deadline for submissions is January 31, 2011. Applications can be picked up in the office or can be printed off the Mira Costa website.
• Attention: teams that signed up for soccer tournament. Please have your captain come to Room 40 at lunch for a mandatory meeting TODAY, 1/14.
• All Students going on the France Trip this year – there is a mandatory meeting at lunch in Room 207 TODAY, January 14th.
• Come on out and support your Mustangs TONIGHT as we take on our rival Redondo. Girls Varsity starts at 6 and Boys Varsity starts at 7:30. A free Amigos taco for every Costa student in attendance if the boys win. Come early it’s sure to be a sell-out. First 100 students thru the door get a “Mustang Madness T-shirt. Go Mustangs!
• Spyder Snow Trip #2!! Come ride with the Crew @ Spyder Boards this Sat., Jan.15th. We’ve got tons of free gear from DVS, Von Zipper. One lucky snow- tripper will score a free pair of Von Zipper goggles! • Hermosa Valley School needs HVS alumni to be cabin leaders for the 6th grade Outdoor Science School in Malibu. The Outdoor School will take place from Monday, March 14th to Friday, March 18th. Application deadline is Friday, January 28th. Please contact Mr. Hecker at [email protected].
• Sign up for the 2011 Mira Costa Talent Show! Forms are available in Room 40 and Room 43. The senior class officers also have forms. Forms are due this Friday. Please turn them into Room 43.
• Student government is now selling beanies, sunglasses, stampede shirts, and much more. Go to Room 40 or 43 to buy.
• Session 1 SAT Savvy prep course begins Saturday, February 5th. Come sign up in Room 18 or 50.
• Come by the library and see the new display of paintings from collages by Ms. Martin’s Art classes.
Teachers, please be sure when you send students to the library to give them a pass and to have them show it to me on their way in. Thank you.
CLUBS / ORGANIZATIONS
• We will now be accepting club day forms for the club day which will be taking place on Wednesday the 19th.
• Come to Satirical Newspaper Club in Room 205 TODAY at lunch and all of your wildest dreams will come true!
• Come to Food Critics Club TODAY in Room 50 at lunch for some good food and mellow vibes.
SENIORS
• Attn Seniors: If you applied to Cal State Channel Islands you need to submit an official transcript by Jan. 31 in order for your application to be considered complete.
Other Cal State campuses will notify you through your web portal account if they need a transcript.
• Attention Seniors: Students wanting to create a scholarship notebook must attend an information meeting in the CCC. The next two options will be Friday, January 14th or January 20th. Students must attend one of these meetings in order to participate in the scholarship notebook process. Students completing a notebook will be considered for local community scholarships.
SPORTS
• Any girls interested in Lacrosse and returning players please come to a meeting in the gym TODAY, January 14th.
COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER
• There will be a Financial Aid Workshop on Wednesday, January 19th at 6:30 pm in the auditorium to discuss filing the FASFA. All students and parents filing for financial aid are encouraged to attend.
• The SCROC presentation has been changed from Jan. 19 to Jan 24.
• Southern California ROC representative Pat Morrow will be discussing new spring courses offered by So Cal ROC on Wednesday, January 19 during lunch in the CCC. These courses are free to students, and bus service is available. Some of these courses are UC approved.
• Sergeant Cortez of the US Air Force will give a presentation at lunch in the CCC on Tuesday, January 18.
FACULTY
