STUDENT INFORMATION
• It’s time for the Neptunian Woman’s Club Art and Photo contest! Entry forms are available in the office or from Ms. Zask, Mr. Reichardt, Ms. Martin, Mr. Mellis’ room or Mr. Hernandez. Deadline to turn in entries is Tuesday January 18th, 2011.
• It’s time to start thinking about an SAT Prep Class, SAT Savvy is revving up for the March SAT exam. Join us. For more info come to Room 18 or Room 50.
• Please have all Adopt-A-Family presents unwrapped and ready by December 14th
• Attention: Staff and Students, If you need your cans picked up from your room. Please let Mrs. Claypoole know in Room 40 or Room 43 and a Student Govt. Member will come pick them up.
• Thank you to every student who entered this year’s Reflections Art contest, and to teachers like Ms. Zask and others who encouraged their pupils to participate. All first place entries will move on to the regional level of judging. Here are the top entrants in each category: In Music, first place goes to Brandon Hafetz, second place to Dana Eisenhauer, and third place to Isaac Siegemund-Broka.
In Film, first place winner is Zack Missioreck.
In Literature there was very stiff competition. First place goes to Jonathan Park, 2nd to Abha Nath, 3rd to Emily Fogel and Bryanna Duca who tied, 4th to Maggie Robak and 5th to Maggie Hawkins.
Another super competitive category was Visual Arts. First place goes to Chloe Conceicao, 2nd to Nicholas Perez, 3rd to Ramie Landis, 4th to Holly Madrid, and 5th to Hannah New, with Honorable Mentions to Caitlyn Guetties and Stephanie Pulido.
Finally in Photography our first place winner is Nicole White, 2nd place goes to Kaitlyn McQuown, 3rd place to Quinn Montgomery, 4th place to Carina Glasser, and tied for 5th place are Alison Comroe and Abha Nath. Thanks also to our judges, staff, and Reflections Chair Janine Madrid for all of their hard work.
CLUBS / ORGANIZATIONS
• Miracles for Many are having a fundraiser, Wednesday December 8th, make sure to get your flyer from Room 43 and come support the club!
• Come to the First Satirical Newspaper Club meeting this Friday in Room 205.
• Come to Drama Club TODAY at lunch in Room 1.
• Love 146 meeting TODAY at lunch in Room 7! All are welcome!
• Growing Great Club meets this Thursday in Room 15 at lunch! Anyone is welcome!
• Come by Room 73 TODAY at lunch to join Red Cross’s discussion about our winter project and to see how you could be involved.
SENIORS
• Applications now being accepted for the Los Angeles Biomedical Research Institute Summer Fellowship Program. For information, contact: College and Career Center or the Los Angeles Biomedical Research Institute at 310-222-3624
• Attn Seniors: If you applied to Cal State San Marcos, Cal State Monterey Bay or Cal State Channel Islands you need to submit an official transcript in order for your application to be considered complete.
The due dates are:
San Marcos and Monterey Bay – transcript due by Dec. 15th
Channel Islands – transcript due by Jan. 31
Other Cal State campuses will notify you through your web portal account if they need a transcript.
• Reminder- the due date for college applications requiring paperwork and Letters of Recommendation from your Counselor was due December 1st. Please see your counselor immediately if you still have any applications requiring paperwork from your counselor. Thank you
SPORTS
• There will be a mandatory meeting for all Boy’s Volleyball players on Friday, Dec. 10th in Room 52 at lunch. Please be prompt.
• The lunch time Soccer Tournament has been postponed. We hope to get more teams signed up. I f you’re interested in creating a team see Mrs. Claypoole in Room 40.
• Boys Tennis-tryouts for any boy new to the team will be TODAY and Tomorrow from 3 to 5pm at the MCHS courts. All players must attend both days.
