STUDENT INFORMATION
• Attention all current Juniors at Seniors interested in National Honors Society: We are currently accepting applications for the new school year. You must have a 3.6 academic unweighted GPA to be eligible to apply. Applications are available on the school website. Current NHS members need not re-apply. The deadline for all application materials is October 1st; please submit applications to the new NHS faculty advisor, Mrs. Wachell, in Room 32.
• Attention students interested in National Honors Society: The Mustang Morning News mistakenly reported that a 3.7 GPA is required for eligibility. The minimum cumulative academic GPA is actually 3.6.
• Any student who is sick MUST go to the Health office to be released from school. The attendance office will not release you.
• Volunteer at Hometown Fair for community service hours. The Beach Reporter is looking for student volunteers to help at the Hometown Fair T-shirt booth. There are 4-hour shifts available on both Saturday and Sunday, October 2 and 3, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. or 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. These hours qualify for community service. Interested students can send an email with their time/day preference to Paul Silva at [email protected].
• Attention Students!!!! Leaving school without an Off Grounds Pass is a TRUANT. You must be signed out by the Attendance Office or Health Office ( if you are sick)
• If you missed getting your picture taken at registration for yearbook make-up pictures will be taken in the auditorium Wednesday September 29th from 10-3:00.
• SAT SAVY is back! Anyone interested in SAT prep for the Nov, Dec, Jan test, please come to Room 18 on Wednesday at lunch. Info available in Room 18 or Room 50.
• It’s Banned Books week come by the library to see the Banned Books display and enter the Banned Books week contest, and don’t forget to participate in the library student survey. Visit the library blog for details.

• Animal Rights Club meeting TODAY at Lunch in Room 46.

• Habitat for Humanity Club meets TODAY in Room 20. New members are welcome!
• Come to Drama Club TODAY at lunch outside Fisher gym.
• Young Republicans Club meeting TODAY in Room 18. Final day to sign up for volunteering at Hometown Fair for community service hours!
• Do you call yourself an LA sports fan? Come to Room 5 at lunch TODAY and join in on Team LA’s discussions and festivities
• H2O for Life Club meets TODAY during lunch in Room 61.

• Seniors and Juniors- Many colleges and universities are coming to campus. For a list of schools and to sign up to attend these presentations, log onto Naviance and click on colleges. Your Naviance user name is your first and last name (no spaces) and your password is your 5 digit Costa ID. Make sure to get prior permission from your teacher before attending these college presentations.
• The Washington University St. Louis Danforth Scholarship is offered to students who have exhibited service and leadership, academic excellence, and taken a rigorous academic curriculum. They are particularly looking for students who exhibit maturity and selflessness. If you would like to be considered for this scholarship, come to the CCC by September 30.
