STUDENT INFORMATION

• If you ordered Mira Costa Spirit wear before the beginning of school, please pick up at the student store during lunch starting TODAY-Friday, 24th. Orders that are not picked up this week will be distributed the week of October 18th.

• Current Sophomores who had Mr. Fish last year for English, please pickup your portfolios during snack in Room 220.

• Auditions for the Fall Play: The Dining Room is TODAY after school in Room 1.

• All AP 2010 Chemistry Graduates! Your Dinner is on Sunday 9/26 at 6:00 pm. See you there!

• If you went anywhere exciting over the summer or have a cool job and would like to be featured in the yearbook, come to Room 9 at lunch TODAY 9/21.

• Attention all current Juniors at Seniors interested in National Honors Society: We are currently accepting applications for the new school year. You must have a 3.6 academic unweighted GPA to be eligible to apply. Applications are available on the school website. Current NHS members need not re-apply. The deadline for all application materials is October 1st; please submit applications to the new NHS faculty advisor, Mrs. Wachell, in Room 32.


CLUBS / ORGANIZATIONS

• S-club will be holding a garage sale on September 25th, and needs your help! All donations should be dropped off at 1727 Gates Ave. See flyers in the front office, for more information.

• Do you call yourself an LA sports fan? Come to Room 5 at lunch TODAY and join in on Team LA’s discussions and festivities.

• Improv Club in the Drama Room at lunch TODAY. Come see the brand new Comedy Sportz team in action.

• Friendship Circle meets TODAY at lunch in Room 114 see you there! All are welcome!

• Young Republicans Club meets TODAY at lunch in Room 18! All are welcome.

• Habitat for Humanity Club meets TODAY in Room 20. All are welcome.

• New Life Christian Club is going to be hosting the See You at the Pole event on Wednesday. Come participate in this nation wide prayer event by the flag pole by the administration building students and faculty are welcome.

• Come to the Food Critics Club TODAY in Room 50. It will be chill!


SENIORS


SPORTS

• Mira Costa Girls Volleyball is holding the 2nd annual Alumni match TODAY September 21st. A Taco cart will be available at 6:00 and the game starts at 7:00. Hope to see you there.

• Boys Golf tryouts 9/22 Wednesday at 2pm!! Check in with Coach Timberlake in Room 202 to verify attendance!!


COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER

• Seniors and Juniors- Many colleges and universities are coming to campus. For a list of schools and to sign up to attend these presentations, log onto Naviance and click on colleges. Your Naviance user name is your first and last name (no spaces) and your password is your 5 digit Costa ID. Make sure to get prior permission from your teacher before attending these college presentations.

• The Washington University St. Louis Danforth Scholarship is offered to students who have exhibited service and leadership, academic excellence, and taken a rigorous academic curriculum. They are particularly looking for students who exhibit maturity and selflessness. If you would like to be considered for this scholarship, come to the CCC by September 30.

• TODAY-Wed is the last opportunity to register for the PLAN or PSAT test. Late registration is $35 at lunch in the student store.

• Community Helpline is taking applications for their next training course. Students will earn 45 hours of Community service while attending training and then additional hours for time volunteering. This is a great community service opportunity. Come to the CCC for more information.
