STUDENT INFORMATION
• The first Mustang Morning News airs this Friday at the beginning of 2nd period. Tune in to channel 3 to see the latest news and sports about Mira Costa.
• Students parking in the student lot with passes from last year will be ticketed. New passes are required every year. Please come by the Guidance Office and see Ms. Gardner before or after school, at snack or lunch to inquire about obtaining a new parking pass.
• Audition packets for the Fall Production are available in Room 1 this week, and due back to Ms. Mathews by Friday, September 17th.
• Juniors and Seniors: The California Scholarship Federation (CSF) Fall 2010 Membership Drive begins this week and ends on September 24th. Check the eligibility list on the door of Rm. 76 and pick up an application.
Sophomores may be eligible for an “Associate” CSF Membership using their outstanding freshman grades. Freshman grades do not count toward Lifetime (seal bearers) Membership, but it does look good on your brag sheet! For more information see Mrs. Cunningham in room 76 at snack, lunch or after school.
• Attention all Spanish 7/8 and AP Spanish students: If you are interested in traveling to Spain during Spring Break please see Mrs. Shapiro in Room 48. Mandatory meeting, this Friday at lunch.
• El Camino’s Sign Language class still has openings, Tuesdays and Thursdays 3:15-5:45 in Room30. If interested- just show up TODAY.
• Current Sophomores who had Mr. Fish last year for English, please pickup your portfolios during snack in Room 220.
CLUBS / ORGANIZATIONS
• Bremen Town Club first meeting of the year! We will discuss our plans for this year and vote on Homecoming nominations!
• New Life Christian Club meeting TODAY in Mrs. Manago’s room, Room 66, every Thursday.
• Come to Foreign Film Club TODAY at lunch outside Room 206.
• Need community service hours? Are you interested in helping those in need? Come to the first Lend A Hand Club meeting of the year TODAY to help us aid the homeless. Room 41 at lunch.
• Ecology Club is searching for new members in search of community service hours. Come by Room 73 at lunch on Monday to find out more.
• First Interact Club meeting in Room 67 Mr. Bartlett’s room TODAY. Come to see what we have in store for the year. There will be pizza!
• If you went anywhere exciting over the summer or have a cool job and would like to be featured in the yearbook, come to Room 9 at lunch Tuesday 9/21.
• Come to Invisible Children Club TODAY at lunch in Room 46!
• First Baja Club meeting TODAY at lunch in Room 35. An amazing experience. Newcomers welcome.
• For those planning on attending the make-up auditions for Comedy Sportz, there will be a short meeting TODAY (Thursday) outside the Drama room at lunch.
• First Key Club meeting TODAY at lunch. Come to Room 61 for great community service opportunities.
• First Girls League meeting TODAY at lunch in Room 39. Come support breast cancer research.

• Come out; Come out, Wherever you are, to the first Gay Straight Alliance meeting TODAY at lunch in Room 23.
• Dimes for Diabetes will have our first meeting on September 17th in Room 16. Everyone is welcome!
SENIORS
• Attn Seniors: There will be a workshop on the procedures for requesting letters of recommendation in the CCC this Friday at lunch.
SPORTS
COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER
• PSAT and PLAN Test Registration will take place thru September 17th in the student store during lunch only. Cost is $25 per exam. Space is limited so sign up early to guarantee a spot. Late Registration will take place September 20-22 in the student store. Cost will be $35 per exam. There will be no registration allowed after Sept. 22nd. The PLAN test will be given on Sat., Oct. 9th at 8am and is for sophomores only. The PSAT test will be given on Sat., Oct. 16th at 8am. The PSAT is designed for juniors, but sophomores and freshman are allowed to take the exam. It is recommended that you are in Algebra 3-4 or higher if taking the PSAT.
• Seniors and Juniors- Many colleges and universities are coming to campus. For a list of schools and to sign up to attend these presentations, log onto Naviance and click on colleges. Your Naviance user name is your first and last name (no spaces) and your password is your 5 digit Costa ID. Make sure to get prior permission from your teacher before attending these college presentations.
• Colleges and trade schools coming to the CCC this week:
o TODAY, Sept 16 – Concordia University – 2nd period
– McGill University (Montreal) – 6th period
o Friday Sept 17 – Vanderbilt University (Tennessee) – 2nd period
• The Washington University St. Louis Danforth Scholarship is offered to students who have exhibited service and leadership, academic excellence, and taken a rigorous academic curriculum. They are particularly looking for students who exhibit maturity and selflessness. If you would like to be considered for this scholarship, come to the CCC by September 30.
FACULTY
• Faculty payroll due to Mary G on or before 9/17/10 by 9:30 am
• Attention Faculty: Business card requests are due TODAY. Please return to Shari Humphrey’s mailbox.
• All Faculty and Staff: Please remember to turn in your Emergency Cards ASAP to Shari Humphrey’s mailbox in Admin. Office.
• Faculty Club advisors: Please make sure that the bulletin notices are filled out correctly, requests not containing room numbers, dates or times (snack, lunch) will not be included in Daily Bulletin.
• Teachers: TODAY is Recycling Thursday. Please have a student take your classroom bin to the recycling center on Stadium Way behind Room 74. Thank you.
