STUDENT INFORMATION

• The first Mustang Morning News airs this Friday at the beginning of 2nd period. Tune in to channel 3 to see the latest news and sports about Mira Costa.

• Students parking in the student lot with passes from last year will be ticketed. New passes are required every year. Please come by the Guidance Office and see Ms. Gardner before or after school, at snack or lunch to inquire about obtaining a new parking pass.

• Audition packets for the Fall Production are available in Room 1 this week, and due back to Ms. Mathews by Friday, September 17th.

• Students that have an “excused 0,1st,5th or 6th period” or surf team on their schedule need to come to the Guidance Office to get an “Off -Grounds sticker” placed on their student ID card. Off-grounds will be issued before school, at snack, at lunch or after school only. Please do not come during class time. If you are stopped by the police without the Off- Grounds sticker on your ID card, you may be subject to a truancy citation.

• Juniors and Seniors: The California Scholarship Federation (CSF) Fall 2010 Membership Drive begins this week and ends on September 24th. Check the eligibility list on the door of Rm. 76 and pick up an application.
Sophomores may be eligible for an “Associate” CSF Membership using their outstanding freshman grades. Freshman grades do not count toward Lifetime (sealbearers) Membership, but it does look good on your brag sheet! For more information see Mrs. Cunningham in room 76 at snack, lunch or after school.

• Juniors and Junior Teachers, I have too many 10th grade portfolios. I am here EVERYDAY at snack! Please come to Room 44 and get them (or send your kids).



CLUBS / ORGANIZATIONS

• Come to Drama Club TODAY @ lunch, outside of Fisher Gym

• Looking for some tasty fun? Come to Cooking Club TODAY during lunch in Room 5

• Come to Science Olympiad if interested in joining the team and competing! Meet in Room 14 TODAY.

• Baby Club meeting TODAY at lunch in Room 36. Come join a new club or continue your membership.

• The first Pink Ribbon Club meeting will be TODAY at lunch in Mr. Bartlett’s room, Room 67. Hope to see you there.


SENIORS

• Attn Seniors: There will be a workshop on the procedures for requesting letters of recommendation in the CCC this Friday at lunch.


SPORTS

• Girls Basketball Tryouts: TODAY,4:30-5:30 in the small gym


COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER

• PSAT and PLAN Test Registration will take place thru September 17th in the student store during lunch only. Cost is $25 per exam. Space is limited so sign up early to guarantee a spot. Late Registration will take place September 20-22 in the student store. Cost will be $35 per exam. There will be no registration allowed after Sept. 22nd. The PLAN test will be given on Sat., Oct. 9th at 8am and is for sophomores only. The PSAT test will be given on Sat., Oct. 16th at 8am. The PSAT is designed for juniors, but sophomores and freshman are allowed to take the exam. It is recommended that you are in Algebra 3-4 or higher if taking the PSAT.

• Seniors and Juniors- Many colleges and universities are coming to campus. For a list of schools and to sign up to attend these presentations, log onto Naviance and click on colleges. Your Naviance user name is your first and last name (no spaces) and your password is your 5 digit Costa ID. Make sure to get prior permission from your teacher before attending these college presentations.

• Colleges and trade schools coming to the CCC this week:

o Thursday, Sept 16 – Concordia University – 2nd period
– McGill University (Montreal) – 6th period
o Friday Sept 17 – Vanderbilt University (Tennessee) – 2nd period

• The Washington University St. Louis Danforth Scholarship is offered to students who have exhibited service and leadership, academic excellence, and taken a rigorous academic curriculum. They are particularly looking for students who exhibit maturity and selflessness. If you would like to be considered for this scholarship, come to the CCC by September 30.



FACULTY

• Faculty payroll due to Mary G on or before 9/17/10 by 9:30 am

• Attention Faculty: Business card requests are due by 9/16. Please return to Shari Humphrey’s mailbox.

• All Faculty and Staff: Please remember to turn in your Emergency Cards ASAP to Shari Humphrey’s mailbox in Admin. Office.

• Faculty Club advisors: Please make sure that the bulletin notices are filled out correctly, requests not containing room numbers, dates or times (snack, lunch) will not be included in Daily Bulletin.
