STUDENT INFORMATION

• Mira Costa Choir invites you to our first Video Game Tournament Fundraiser. Saturday, January 30, 2010. Start time 11am, price $30. Tournament winner will receive $200.00. Please pick up entry form in Choir Room (RG16).

• Reminder: Students, if you are not feeling well you are to go to the health office to get checked out of school

• Marine Science and former Marine Science students interested in sailing aboard the tall ship expedition please contact Mr. Coller in Room 63.

• All students signed up to go to France this spring break, come to an important meeting Friday, February 5th at lunch in Room 207.

• Talent show tryouts are next Monday, February 1st and Tuesday, February 2nd. If you are interested please pick up forms in Room 40 or 43.

• Attention all students! Talent Show sign-ups are due Wednesday, January 27. Form can be picked up in the ASB room and must be turned into Lisa Claypoole personally.

• Attention 10th graders: The California High School Exit Exam is coming on February 2nd and 3rd. Testing room assignments will be posted in the library window on February 1st. Be sure to get plenty of rest and eat a good breakfast each day before the test.

CLUBS / ORGANIZATIONS

• Come to Young Republicans Club at lunch TODAY in Ms. Vaughn’s room, Room 18. We’ll have pizza for all attending.

• Operation Smile Club meets TODAY at lunch in Mr. Bartletts room, Room 67. The Yearbook picture will be taken.

SPORTS

• MCHS Roller Hockey Team Tryouts TODAY and Tuesday February 2nd, at Toyota Sports Center in El Segundo at 6pm. For more info call Coach Ed at (213)249-2462.

• Please excuse all Girls Soccer at 1:00pm.


COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER

• Volunteer Opportunity: The Pancreatic Cancer Network is in need of volunteers to help with their upcoming fundraiser walk on February 13th. Come to the CCC to see Mrs. Folkman for more info.

• Students who took the practice ACT can pick up their scores in the CCC.


FACULTY

• On 1/20/10 Tommy Geary passed away. Many of you may remember him as Mr. Mira Costa from 1961 until he retired in 1998. The school newspaper had written articles about his work and he even had a tree planted in front of the Band Hall for his dedication to his work upon his retirement.
