STUDENT INFORMATION

• Vote for our school to have DJ FelliFel and Justin Bieber perform! To vote go to www.power106.com everyday between January 18th-31st.

• Attention Students: With finals fast approaching, don’t forget that the library is open to all students for studying after school Monday through Thursday until 5pm and free tutoring in all subjects is available during these times.

• After School Math lab starts TODAY! It will be every Tuesday in Room 28, every Wednesday in Room 56 and every Thursday in Room 59. See you there!

• SAT Savvy Intensive Prep course sign ups are here. Friday is the last day for the discounted price so come to Room 18 or Room 50 for more info.

• It’s time for the Neptunian Women’s Club Art and Photo Contest! Entry forms are available in the office or from Ms. Zask, Mr. Reichardt, Mr. Mellis, Mr. Hillger or Mr. Hernandez. Deadline to turn in entries is Thursday, Feb. 4th.

• So are you a good public speaker? Now is your chance to win over $11,000 in scholarships from The Lions Club of Manhattan and Hermosa Beach. Please see Mr. Mancilla for more info about The Lions Club Student Speaker contest on February 11th.

CLUBS / ORGANIZATIONS

• Years Young club will meet Thursday at lunch in Room 50. Anyone interested in Senior citizen outreach is welcome.

• Lend a Hand Club meets TODAY at lunch in Room 41(even though it’s a late start)

• Saturday sounds sweet! Join Lend a Hand Club at Cupcakes Couture this Saturday January 16th from
4-7pm for cupcakes and live music!

• Growing Great Club meets TODAY in Room 15! Come and see a cooking demo and get the yummy recipes! See you there!

• Dimes for Diabetes Club meets TODAY in Room 30!

• Working Wardrobes meets TODAY in Room 205!

• The Pink Ribbon Club will be meeting TODAY at lunch in Mr. Bartletts’ room, Room 67.

SENIORS

• Financial Aid Presentation for Senior parents is Wednesday, January 20th at 7pm in the Auditorium. A speaker will be there to talk about FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) and to answer financial aid questions.

• Senior Scholarship Notebook information meetings are January 15th, and 21st in the CCC during lunch. It is mandatory for all seniors to attend one of these meetings if they are turning in a scholarship notebook.

SPORTS

• Boys and Girls swimming Tryouts for new students not currently enrolled in swimming and water polo are TODAY at 3:00pm at the pool. Be ready to swim!

• Please excuse Girls Waterpolo at 1:15pm for games. Thank you.

• Freshmen and new player tryouts for baseball will be in the baseball field after school at 3:15pm next week starting Tuesday 19th through Friday, 22nd.

• Girls Lacrosse Tryouts 4:30pm TODAY and Thursday. Bring running shorts and cleats.

COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER

• PSAT score information night on Tuesday, January 19th at 7pm in the Auditorium. A representative from Princeton Review will be there to discuss the PSAT and help students and parents understand their scores.

FACULTY

• Faculty and Administrators interested in having the Web Design class develop their or their department’s web site on the new Mira Costa web site. If interested please contact Mr. Williams by leaving a note in his box or by emailing him. The Web Design course will begin these projects during the 1st quarter of the second semester and Faculty will have an opportunity to provide content and preview the sites during this time.
• Did you over-eat during the holidays and need to lose some weight by summer? You are invited to stop by the Guidance Office Conference room TODAY at 4pm for FREE Weight Watchers-at-Work open house! Come and hear about how easy it is to do it! Questions? See Peggy in the Guidance Office.
