FACULTY
· Homeroom teachers – You received a container to help raise at least $12 for the LA Mission. These generous donations are due Nov. 13 when we will collect containers. This will provide almost six hot meals for our suffering neighbors on Skid Row.

· Thailand 2020 meeting will be held Wednesday, 10/23 in Room 234.
· Central Europe Spring Break 2020 Parent Meeting this Wednesday, Oct. 23 at 7 pm in Ms. Hutchinson’s Room 20. Let’s talk Prague, Munich, Budapest, and Vienna! See you and your parent(s) there!
· The first UCLA Blood Drive of the school year is on Wednesday, Nov. 20. It will be from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm. Please donate! For every one person that donates, three lives are saved. Come to the ASB Room or ask someone in ASB to sign up, or use the link bit.ly/uclablooddrive and save lives!
· Haunted Homecoming Dance Party! Join us at the Haunted HoCo, presented by MCHS Student Government, on Saturday, Oct. 26 at the Hermosa Beach Kiwanis Hall from 6 – 9 pm, 2515 Valley Drive, HB, 90254. Wear your costume! The evening events include dancing, dinner, treats, costume contest, photo booth, games and more! Tickets are on Sale now at the Student Store/Finance Office. · Don’t forget about the Mustang Moments Challenge! First submission is due the 25 – 28 of October. Check your mbusdapps email for all updates/information including how to submit, what you’ll win, and more.
· Art Night is back for a third year! All students are invited to sell their artwork and crafts at the 3rd Annual Art Night. Sign up at CostaArtNight.weebly.com. There will also be food, music and arts and crafts for all to participate in. Art Night is this Friday, Oct. 25 from 5 to 7 pm in the quad outside Room 109. All students, faculty and staff are invited to bring friends and family for a fun evening of art!
SENIORS
· Attention Seniors! Three deadlines for the 2020 Yearbook are coming up: First, check your mbusdapps emails to find the link to vote for superlatives if you haven’t yet. Second, Senior Ad prices go up Nov. 1. Last, Senior Portraits need to be taken by Ralf’s Photography by Oct. 31.
CLUBS AND ORGANIZATIONS
· Chess Club takes place on Thursdays at lunch in Room 14. If you are interested in playing chess, learning chess, or improving your skills, this is the club for you! All levels are welcome.
· Record your own music at Music Production Club! No experience needed. Wednesdays during AM Office Hours in Room 51, Mr. McCormick’s. Sing, make beats, rap, play instruments, and more!
· Come to Richstone Club in Room 207 Wednesdays at lunch. Help us raise money and volunteer at the Richstone Family Center, which is dedicated to helping families who have a history of abuse.
· Become published and share your creativity! Submit your poetry, photography, paintings, drawings, short stories, short films, music, etc. to Papercut: The Literary and Art Magazine of Mira Costa! Submit to [email protected], or join the process and come to our meetings in Room 207 at lunch!
· Are you interested in computer programming or want a new extracurricular where you can learn and develop a very popular skill? Then the Competitive Coding Club is for you! All levels are welcome. Meetings are every PM Office Hours and Thursday during lunch in Room 116, Mr. Braskin’s room. Personal computers are recommended but not required.
COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER

· College Essays – If you’d like a CCC counselor to revise your personal statement or personal insight questions, bring by a double-spaced copy to the CCC. Be sure to include your name, email, and the prompt to which you are responding.
· College Representative Visits In The CCC – If visit is during class please get teacher permission to attend. This is an opportunity to learn about your schools of interest and meet the admission counselors. View all visits and sign up to attend on NAVIANCE. Please bring your school ID.
