STUDENT INFO
· Join MBUSD students, teachers, administrators, and community members in spreading peace and positivity to the South Bay. We will be observing International Peace Day on Saturday, Sept. 21 by Standing in the Sand 4 Peace & Climate Action! The event begins at 8am on the MB pier, followed by participants forming the word PEACE in the sand, captured by aerial photo. We encourage everyone to stay after and participate in Coastal Clean-up Day, hosted by our friends at Heal the Bay, Round-House Aquarium, Grades of Green & Southbay Cares from 9am to noon.
· Join us at the TEDx Manhattan Beach talks, BOLD Vision, on Nov. 2 at MCHS. The event includes short but provocative 10-minute talks, fun and interactive exhibits, breakfast, snacks and lunch. Ethan Nahlinder, Costa student and musician, is a scheduled presenter. Purchase tickets at TEDxManhattanBeach.com before they sell out. Student discounts are available.
· The Spring Break trip to South Korea in 2020 is underway! Anyone interested please come to Room 202 for an information session this Friday at lunch!
· Spring Break 2020 Greece/Italy Trip: Come to Room 73 (Mrs. Martinez-Sellan’s room) if you’re ready for information on an amazing trip!
· Attention all Juniors & Seniors! Looking to register to vote in the U.S. presidential election? Stop by the ASB student store at lunch on Tuesday, Sept. 24 or during AM Office hours on Wednesday, Sept. 25 to register.
· Thailand 2020 meeting again in Room 234 TODAY and 9/17. Come learn about this trip during Spring Break 2020. Space is available! Thai food will be served!
· Golf Scramble! First Annual 2019 event to benefit the Mira Costa High School Band Program on Sunday, Oct. 13 at Los Verdes Golf Course in Rancho PV. Open to all golfers, all levels, all friends. Foursome scramble team event format. Sign up as a single, or make your own team. Cost is $110 per person, includes golf fee, cart, prizes and box lunch. SPORTS
· Girls’ Lacrosse will have tryouts TODAY and 9/11 from 3 to 4:30 pm on the West Field. Bring your lacrosse stick, mouth guard, cleats and running shoes.
CLUBS AND ORGANIZATIONS
· Are you interested in comics and civic-themed media? If so, Comic Book Club is the perfect club for you! Come to the first meeting of the year during lunch on Sept. 11 in Mr. Hernandez’s Room 108.
· Come to Room 54 on Wednesdays at lunch for iCare Club! We fundraise and volunteer with the International Rescue Committee to aid refugees in various countries.
· Mira Costa Gender Sexuality Alliance meets every Thursday at lunch in Room 23, Mr. Zeoli’s room. Meet a group of loving and supportive people, engage in activist work to help make campus a more accepting environment, and raise funds for various charities and organizations.
· Come to the Support Our Students Club Thursday at lunch in Room 234 to make cards/care packages for sick/injured Costa students!
· Join Latino Scholars Union Tuesdays (TODAY) at lunch in Room 73 for music, food, events, community service, and open discussions!
· Chess Club takes place on Thursdays at lunch in Room 14. If you are interested in playing chess, learning chess, or improving your skills, this is the club for you! All levels are welcome.
· Do you love to laugh? Do you love to be silly? If you answered yes, you’ll love Improv Club TODAY at lunch in the Drama Room 1! BE THERE!
· If you want to get involved in Drama at Costa, come to Drama Club in the Drama Room 1 at lunch on Wednesdays! We will have a blast!

· College Essays – If you’d like a CCC counselor to revise your personal statement or personal insight questions, bring by a double-spaced copy to the CCC. Be sure to include your name, email, and the prompt to which you are responding.
· College Representative Visits In The CCC – If visit is during class please get teacher permission to attend. This is an opportunity to learn about your schools of interest and meet the admission counselors. View all visits and sign up to attend on NAVIANCE. Please bring your school ID.

The test will begin at 7:00am on October 30 at MCHS. To register online, please go the MCHS website and click on the MCHS ASB Webstore in the upper right-hand corner or use this link: https://mchswebstore.myschoolcentral.com.
In-person registration (cash or check to MCHS only) will be available TODAY and September 11, 12, and 13 in the CCC. On-time Registration cost is $25. Your final opportunity for LATE registration will be September 16 and 17 online or in person in the CCC. Late registration cost is $35. After you register online, bring your receipt to the CCC to pick up your PSAT Study Guide. Please contact the CCC (ext. 5253) with any questions.
