THU 5/30 Surf Team Tryouts (rescheduled) at 6:30 am at 26th Street Lifeguard Tower; Pops Concert from 7 – 9 pm in the Auditorium featuring David Benoit; Yearbook Distribution at the Student Store for Sophomores (during lunch & 6th period) and Freshmen (after school)

FRI 5/31 Counselors to visit MBMS; Class Competition at lunch in the Mustang Mall; Last day to pay book fines by check, cash only after today

SAT 6/1 California Dreamin’ Prom 2019 at the Petersen Automotive Museum in L.A. from 7 – 11 pm

TUE 6/4 Choir Concert at 7 pm in the Auditorium; College Application Essay Writing workshop at 2:00pm and 6:00pm in the CCC

WED 6/5 Office Hours Schedule; Community Coffee with the Principal at 7:30 am in the Admin Office; Senior Finals 5th & 6th periods

THU 6/6 Senior Finals 3rd & 4th periods; Orchestra “Spain Send Off” Concert at 7 pm in the Auditorium

FRI 6/7 Senior Finals 1st & 2nd periods; Senior Breakfast following finals; Last day for Seniors to return items to Library Room 18

FACULTY

·         All Awards Assembly TODAY during 2nd period. Teachers of junior/senior classes only. Attendance by sign up only. Email [email protected] with number of students in your junior/senior 2nd period class.

SENIORS

·         Senior CSF Life Members: Your envelope containing your certificate, pin and cowl are ready for pick-up in Room 243. Please note: You must sign for it before taking it. Once again, CONGRATULATIONS!

·         Didn’t pick up your pre-ordered cap and gown last Wednesday? Come to the Administration Office during SNACK OR LUNCH ONLY. Be sure to get your senior info sheet and graduation tickets, too!

STUDENT INFO

·         Last Comedy Sportz Match of the year! Seniors Vs. Alumni match! Watch the Seniors of the team play past members of the team. This Friday in the Small Theater at 7 pm for $5.

·         Senior Scenes are TODAY at 7 pm in the Small Theater for FREE! Come watch scenes put together from various plays and musicals, directed by some of the seniors of the Drama Department!

·         Surf Team Tryouts are rescheduled (again!) to this Thursday, 5/30 at 6:30 am at the 26th Street Lifeguard Tower. This is for all high school age students wanting to try out.

·         Yearbook distribution begins TODAY! Seniors may pick up starting at lunch at the Student Store, Juniors during 6th period and after school. Sophomores will be Thursday at lunch and during 6th period, and Thursday after school for Freshmen. YOU MUST BRING YOUR STUDENT ID! Purchases can be made the day after your grade's distribution period for $125 CASH ONLY.

·         Have you always wanted to visit Greece and Italy? Then come to an informational meeting this Thursday, 5/30 at lunch in Mrs. Martinez-Sellan’s Room 73 for our 2020 Spring Break Trip.

·         For those students who added Yearbook class for the 2019-2020 school year, please visit Room 102 Thursday or Friday for information on summer training.

·         Come to Thailand in 2020 for Elephant Conservation and Community Service abroad. Thailand meeting next week Friday, 5/31 in Mrs. Allen’s Room 234.

·         Textbook Returns: You can start returning textbooks at your convenience! If you are no longer using them, check books in at the library (Room 18) so it's off your record. You can also come by and take care of any lost or damaged items now. The last day for SENIORS to return items is June 7. Last day to return textbooks for all other students is June 13. If you have any books out or overdue after that date, you will be INELIGIBLE TO REGISTER in August.

Please note Textbook Policy regarding Refunds: Any lost books from this school year will result in a replacement fine. There will be NO REFUNDS issued in August for books lost THIS school year. We will have already purchased replacements over the summer and be unable to refund.

Below are a several things that may help you when returning books:

  1. If you have outstanding fines, you may pay now with a CHECK. After 5/31, CASH ONLY will be accepted.

  2. Save time standing at the circulation desk and remove post-its before bringing book in.

  3. To avoid long lines, do not return your book the last day of finals BETWEEN tests. This is always one of our   busiest times. START RETURNING BOOKS NOW instead.

  4. Watch for MCHS Library emails to see what items you have checked out, due date, and if you have fines.

  5. If you have questions about your account, see Mrs. Sullivan in Room 18 soon. She’s happy to help.

SPORTS

·         Surf Team Tryouts are rescheduled (again!) to this Thursday, 5/30 at 6:30 am at the 26th Street Lifeguard Tower. This is for all high school age students wanting to try out.

CLUBS AND ORGANIZATIONS

·         Gender Sexuality Alliance is hosting a Q & A panel of LGBT+ students on Wednesday, June 5 during PM Office Hours in the Small Theater. Come hear real people’s stories and learn more about the lives of our LGBT+ students.

·         Drama Club Wednesdays (TODAY) at lunch in the Drama Room 1. Come to get some of the final announcements of the year!

COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER

·      Schedule a one-on-one appointment with one of our credentialed college counselors. Call 310-318-7337 ext. 5253 or email [email protected]. *Juniors – the Spring Semester is an ideal time to meet with a CCC Counselor.

·      Applying to College 101 workshop Series in the CCC  Maximize your summer! Start early and make applications stress-free!

*College Application Essay Writing – Tuesday, 6/4 at 2:00pm and 6:00pm

This series will be most helpful for Juniors and their parents, however all grade levels are welcome to attend! Sign up on Naviance under “College Visits.”

·      SoCal Roc is now enrolling for the Fall 2019 semester. Classes begin Monday, September 9. Come to the CCC to sign up and learn more about the classes we offer.
