· Congratulations to Girls’ Beach Volleyball for winning the State Championship! WooHoo! Bluruipp!
· Drama 1 & 2 Showcase 5/20 Monday at 7:00 pm in the Small Theater. No charge! Come support the Drama Department and watch the monologues and scenes on which the classes have been working so hard.
· The Final Date to pre-order a yearbook will be Thursday, May 16. After May 16, yearbooks (if available) will be sold for $125 cash after the distribution period has begun.
· The Mira Costa Surf Team tryouts are POSTPONED due to rain.
· Independent Study Athletics (ISA) applications for the 2019-20 school year are on the Costa website under ATHLETICS. All applications are DUE TODAY. Late applications will not be accepted!
SENIORS
· Cap & Gown Distribution will be Wednesday, 5/22 at 9:00 am in the foyer of the Auditorium. Beat the rush! Pick up your cap and gown and graduation tickets before school starts (on SBAC testing schedule). Next opportunity to pick up will be at lunch.
· Attention Graduation and Senior Recognition Night performers: Please come to Room 44 during PM Office Hours TODAY for a mandatory performance rehearsal!
CLUBS AND ORGANIZATIONS
· Very important Drama Club meeting TODAY at lunch in the Drama Room 1. All thespians make sure to be there to vote for next year’s drama student board. Come for this and information on upcoming dates. THESPIANS ONLY MEETING!
· Are you interested in our criminal justice system? Do you want to become a lawyer or build strong presentation and public speaking skills to show to colleges? Then the Mock Trial Club is right for you! Come to Room 23 during AM Office Hours TODAY for more information.
COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER
· Schedule a one-on-one appointment with one of our credentialed college counselors. Call 310-318-7337 ext. 5253 or email [email protected]. *Juniors – the Spring Semester is an ideal time to meet with a CCC Counselor.
· College Representative Visits In The CCC – If visit is during class please get teacher permission to attend. This is an opportunity to learn about your schools of interest and meet the admission counselors. View all visits and sign up to attend on NAVIANCE. Please bring your school ID.
o TODAY, 5/15 – El Camino College Appointments from 9:30am – 1:30pm. Make sure you are completing the tasks that are needed to qualify for Priority Registration and the Honors Program. Come to the CCC to make an appointment to develop an Educational Plan or answer any questions you may have.

JUNIORS: Reed College (OR), Sarah Lawrence College (NY), and Kenyon College (OH) are hosting a College Essay Writing Workshop, May 21 from 6:30 to 7:30 PM at the Manhattan Beach Public Library in the Meeting Room, 1320 Highland Avenue, Manhattan Beach
As three national liberal arts and sciences colleges that deeply value writing, they will share what makes a successful college essay and discuss how the essay fits into the college selection process. We hope it will allow students to gain new perspectives, alleviate fears and myths, and explore topics and strategies to essays that will authentically convey who you are.
