STUDENT INFO
· Link Crew selections have been made! Acceptance letters are being delivered to homerooms this week, but please also check the email you listed on your application and/or the list on room 20’s door to see if you’ve been accepted. THERE ARE ADDITIONAL STEPS TO COMPLETE BY THIS FRIDAY! If you don’t complete the final steps, your position will be offered to another interested student. Thank you to all who applied!
· Students, have you ordered your yearbook? Not Sure? Check for your name on the grade level list on our website. If you find that you have not ordered, you can do so on the Mira Costa ASB Web Store, https://mchswebstore.myschoolcentral.com or by check or cash in the ASB Finance Office at the student store.
o Price is currently $110 w/ASB or $120. Price will rise to $125 on May 1st for ALL Students.
o Yearbook orders will be taken only until May 31.
o After May 31, yearbooks (if available) will be sold for $125 cash after the distribution period has begun.
Questions can be directed to Mrs. Cessor in the ASB Finance Office.
· All students who have ever taken an Engineering course with Mrs. Weaver are now eligible to receive FREE credits from El Camino. Please see Mrs. Weaver in Room 112 to receive information on how to receive the credits.
· Come to the Gallery in Room 60 to check out artwork by AP Studio Art student Amanda Murch TODAY through April 24.
· THE DROWSY CHAPERONE, Mira Costa Drama/Tech’s Spring Musical, opens 4/26 at 7:30 pm in the Auditorium! Pre-sale tickets are on sale now – students/seniors $10 and adults $15! Available at the Student Store, Tiffany Cleaners, Patterson Cleaners, and Dietz Brothers. Show Dates: 4/26 at 7:30 pm; 4/27 at 7:30 pm; 5/2 at 6:30 pm; 5/3 at 7:30 pm; 5/4 at 2:00 pm and 7:30 pm. · Attention Next Year’s Seniors 2019-2020! Registration has begun for student parking lottery for the 2019-2020 school year. Interested students should register online at the MCHS ASB Web Store. There is no cost to sign up, and you will receive a receipt for registration. Please review the Parking Permit Guidelines posted on the MCHS Website before registering. *Please note: This is a lottery for students who will be seniors ONLY. It is NOT first come/first served. If you are selected, you will be notified via email and provided further instructions. Any students having difficulty registering online should contact Donna Cessor in the ASB Finance Office.
· Independent Study Athletics (ISA) applications for the 2019-2020 school year are now on the school’s website under ATHLETICS. All applications are due on or before May 15, 2019.
SENIORS
· Buy your Senior Grad Nite Ticket TODAY! Tickets increase by $20 on May 1! Mira Costa’s G.R.A.D. Nite is an all-night party of thoroughly extravagant proportions thrown each June exclusively for the graduating class. The party is substance-free and provides a safe environment for the current graduating class to celebrate together one last time. Attendees are bused to a secret, private venue, where they may participate in games, music, dancing, and many other surprise activities. Visit the school website for tickets and more info.
CLUBS AND ORGANIZATIONS
· Drama Club Elections Meeting: Come Wednesday 4/24 at lunch in Room 1 for special announcements about running for next year’s Drama Board positions.
· Come to the Young Survival Coalition Club in Room 73 every other Monday to help spread awareness about breast cancer!
· Math Club: The last math competition of the year is coming up on May 1! Contact [email protected] for more information and to sign up. All levels of mathletes are welcome.
· Are you interested in our Criminal Justice System? Do you want to become a lawyer or build strong presentation and public speaking skills to show to colleges? Then the Mock Trial Club is right for you! Come to Mr. Zeoli’s Room 23 during AM Office Hours for more information.
COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER
· Schedule a one-on-one appointment with one of our credentialed college counselors. Call 310-318-7337 ext. 5253 or email [email protected]. *Juniors – the Spring Semester is an ideal time to meet with a CCC Counselor.
· College Representative Visits In The CCC – If visit is during class please get teacher permission to attend. This is an opportunity to learn about your schools of interest and meet the admission counselors. View all visits and sign-up to attend on NAVIANCE. Please bring your school ID.

· Seniors: Please complete the following steps and BRING COPIES to the CCC by May 10:
-If you are planning to enter a 4-year or Community College
1. BRING COPY - Updated Naviance college admissions results page. (Go to the College tab. For colleges that you did NOT end up applying to, mark as “withdrawn.” For colleges that you applied to and did not get into, mark “denied.” For colleges you applied to and got into, mark “accepted.” Finally, indicate which school you are going to ATTEND at the bottom of the page
2.BRING COPY - Completed senior survey (on Naviance, under the “About Me” tab)
3.BRING COPY - Acceptance letter from the school you will be attending
This process will ensure that your final transcript will be sent to the school you plan to attend in the fall
-If you are planning to work, enter the military, take a gap year, or travel
1. Stop in the CCC to let us know your plans
· SAT Subject Tests vs. AP Exams Presentation in the CCC - Come join The Princeton Review on Monday, April 29 at 5pm in the CCC to learn more about differences between the two tests and how to decide which tests students should take. No sign-up necessary.
· SoCal Roc is now enrolling for the Fall 2019 semester. Classes begin Monday, September 9. Come to the CCC to sign up and learn more about the classes we offer.
