STUDENT INFO
· Tryouts for the Mira Costa Badminton Team will take place on Tuesday, Jan. 8 and Wednesday, Jan. 9 from 5 pm to 6:30 pm at 516 18th Street in Manhattan Beach.
· Costa Varsity Boys’ Basketball plays North Torrance this Friday night, 12/21 @ 7pm at MBMS! All levels will be playing in tournaments during Winter Break, too: Varsity in Santa Barbara, JV will host the Winter Classic Tournament at MBMS, Frosh will play in Yorba Linda and Frosh/Soph will play in a tournament at Redondo Union. Check out the schedules for local games on https://www.costabasketball.com & catch a game during the break if you can! Go Costa!
· Informational meeting for The Drowsy Chaperone after finals on 12/20 (Thursday) in Room 1. If you plan on auditioning for the musical, it is recommended that you go! Auditions start the day we get back from break. Audition packets still available in the Woodshop Room 104 or Drama Room 1.
· Audition packets for the spring musical, The Drowsy Chaperone, are due Thursday, 12/20. Be sure to grab your packets in the Woodshop (Room 104) or Drama Room 1. We would love to see you audition.
· Nervous about auditioning for the Spring Musical? Come to the Audition Workshop on January 5. Check the @MCHSdramatechdepartment Instagram for times and location. We highly recommend coming if you are even slightly interested.
· Attention Poets: Poetry Out Loud applications are due to Ms. Sieker in Room 44 by Thursday, Dec. 20!

Scholarships
Scholarship Notebook Program:
The scholarship notebook is a personal profile that will be read by members of community scholarship committees. Each scholarship committee creates their own criteria for selection and carefully screens the applicants to find the appropriate candidates for their scholarships. The scholarship donors are looking for students who may meet any of the following criteria:
•Have financial need
•Plan to attend a two- or four-year school or trade school
•Have completed numerous volunteer hours
•Plan to study a particular major (i.e. Art, Dance, Business, English)
•Deserve a merit award for excellent grades
•Have a talent that the committee wishes to honor
•Meet any number of additional criteria!
For students to be eligible to apply, they must attend ONE of the following five information meetings in the CCC during lunch on January 8, 10, 14, 17 or during PM Office Hours on Wednesday, January 9. Students must sign-up on Naviance prior to the meeting to attend. Please bring $5 to purchase the notebooks.

· SoCal Roc is now enrolling for the spring 2019 semester. Classes begin Monday, Jan. 28. Come to the CCC to sign up and learn more about the classes we offer.
