· Techies! Join us for the 2018 Local Hack Day! This free mini-hackathon runs from 9 am to 9 pm on Dec. 1 and allows you to bring an idea to life over 12 hours with a team. All are welcome; no experience necessary. Visit tinyurl.com/MCHSHack for more info.
· It’s that time of the year! The 2018 Lip Sync Contest is here! Contestants show us your Lip Sync skills and win a chance at PRIZE MONEY! Come watch the show TONIGHT at 7 pm in the Auditorium! Tickets are available at the door or can be purchased from a Dance Team member.
· The Grammy Award Winning Mira Costa Bands present the Homecoming Concert of the Marching Band and Colorguard – the final performance of our 2018 Field Show, The Pack! TONIGHT at 7 pm in Waller Stadium, featuring parade, pop and rousing school spirit music. We invite parents, alumni, staff, students and community members to join us for this special evening as we celebrate the end of the Marching Band season after returning home from MOBX Championships in Las Vegas.
SPORTS
· Ice Hockey pre-season activities are beginning with a coach meeting for interested students followed by pre-skate tryouts for the team. All-interest student meeting Friday, 11/30 at lunch in the Guidance Office Conference Room. Pre-skate tryouts Friday, 12/7 from 5 to 6 pm at Toyota Sports Center. Questions? Email [email protected].
SENIORS
· Attention Seniors! Turn in your Cap and gown, senior ring and grad item orders TOMORROW, Friday, Nov. 16 from 8 am – 2 pm outside the CCC. See the Jostens rep there. Order packets are still available in the Admin office.
CLUBS AND ORGANIZATIONS
· The Disaster Relief Club is holding a drive to help those affected by the Malibu/Ventura fires. Non-perishable foods, clothing, general care items and house items are accepted. Donation bins outside the Amin Office.
· Mira Costa Gender Sexuality Alliance meets every Thursday (TODAY) at lunch in Room 23, Mr. Zeoli’s room. Meet a group of loving and supportive people, engage in activist work to help make campus a more accepting environment, and raise funds for various charities and organizations.
· Come to Club Harmony at lunch TODAY to learn how to promote social inclusivity! We are raising awareness about different cultures, religions, backgrounds, and identities.
· Love painting or need community service hours? Come to Portraits of Hope Club every Friday in Room 233! All new members welcome!
· The second math competition of the year is coming up soon on December 5! Come to Math Club in Room 131 on Tuesdays at lunch for more information and to sign up. All levels of mathletes are welcome.
· Do you need help in explaining Physics concepts? Do you like to talk about Physics? Do you want to know how long it takes to cook a perfect pizza? Come to Room 237 during lunch on Fridays for Physics Club!
· Official Full Chapter Meeting of the National Honor Society (NHS) will take place in the MPR TODAY, 11/15 at lunch. We will go over ISPs and committees and brainstorm chapter goals for the year.
COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER

· College Representative Visits In The CCC – If visit is during class please get teacher permission to attend. This is an opportunity to learn about your schools of interest and meet the admission counselors. View all visits and sign-up to attend on NAVIANCE. Please bring your school ID.

· SENIORS – Visit the CCC for College Application Assistance:
o College Personal Statement Revision – Please bring in a hard-copy of your essay if you would like feedback from one of the counselors. Typically essays are completed within 2-3 business days.
o Walk-in Wednesdays for help with applications, essay revisions and to have your questions answered! No appointment necessary. Walk-In Hours are on Wednesdays, from 3PM to 5PM.

· SoCal Roc is now enrolling for its 9-week courses: Adobe Suite (After Effects, Animate, Dreamweaver, Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop), Business Entrepreneur, and ITCC-Welding. Classes began Nov. 13. Sign up in the CCC to speak with a SCROC counselor.
