STUDENT INFO
· The Grammy Award Winning Mira Costa Bands present the Homecoming Concert of the Marching Band and Colorguard – the final performance of our 2018 Field Show, The Pack! on Nov. 15 at 7 pm in Waller Stadium, featuring parade, pop and rousing school spirit music. We invite parents, alumni, staff, students and community members to join us for this special evening as we celebrate the end of the Marching Band season after returning home from MOBX Championships in Las Vegas.
· Come one, come all! Second and final week of performances of The Laramie Project. TODAY we have a special 4 pm performance – only $5 for students. Thursday’s show is at 6:30 pm and Friday and Saturday shows are at 7:30 pm. All shows are in the Small Theater. Students are $10 presale and $12 at the door.
· If you are going on Mr. Kurz’s field trip TODAY to Griffith Park Observatory, please meet outside the Math and Science building Upper Peck parking lot after 1st Office Hours.
· This week in the Art Gallery Room 60: a Pop-Up exhibit of fall artwork from the AP Studio Art Class. One week only. Don’t miss it!
· Techies: Join us for the MCHS 2018 Local Hack Day! This free mini-hackathon runs from 9 am to 9 pm on December 1, and allows you to bring an idea to life over 12 hours with a team! No experience necessary. Visit tinyurl.com/MCHSHack for more info.
· The Mira Costa Mustangs Varsity Football team beat Long Beach Wilson to advance to the second round of playoffs. They will rematch with South Hills High School at home this Friday night at 7 pm. Come cheer your Mustang Football team on to a victory! Remember to bring $5 cash since your ASB card does not cover CIF playoff tickets.
SENIORS
· ATTENTION SENIORS! Don’t forget to order your Senior Ad for the 2019 Yearbook before the December 1st deadline! Ads can be ordered from yearbookforever.com. For more information, visit the Hoofprints’ website or use the link on the Mira Costa website.
· Attention Seniors! The Jostens representative will be outside the CCC during AM Office Hours TODAY to hand out senior packets with information on caps, gowns and announcements.
SPORTS
· Swimming Tryouts will be Thursday, Dec. 13. Warm ups start at 2 pm, tryouts will begin around 3 pm.
· The first day of the Boys’ Indoor Volleyball Tryouts is TODAY in Fisher Gym. Be there to register by 2:15 pm. Tryout runs from 2:30 – 4:30 pm.
CLUBS AND ORGANIZATIONS
· Come to Drone Club in Mr. Oystrick’s Room 339 TODAY at lunch to learn how to build and fly drones.
· Come join the Pink Ribbon Club this Thursday in Room 331!
· FIDM Fashion Club meeting on Friday, Nov. 9 at lunch! Come to Room 109 for a safe space to express your passion for fashion!
· Come to Room 234 at lunch on Thursday to make cards and care packages for sick/injured Costa students at the Support Our Students Club!
· Come to Drama Club every Wednesday (TODAY) at lunch in Room 1 to learn about upcoming events in the Drama/Tech Dept.
· Mira Costa Gender Sexuality Alliance meets every Thursday at lunch in Room 23, Mr. Zeoli’s room. Meet a group of loving and supportive people, engage in activist work to help make campus a more accepting environment, and raise funds for various charities and organizations.
· Come to Room 111 during today’s and every AM office hours for some great EDM music live mixed and spun by Costa’s own EDM Club. Bring your own ear plugs.

· SENIORS – Visit the CCC for College Application Assistance:
o College Personal Statement Revision – Please bring in a hard-copy of your essay if you would like feedback from one of the counselors. Typically essays are completed within 2-3 business days.
o Walk-in Wednesdays for help with applications, essay revisions and to have your questions answered! No appointment necessary. Walk-In Hours are on Wednesdays, from 3PM to 5PM.
· Freshman College Knowledge Workshops – Intended for 9th-grade students and parents, but all are welcome. The workshop will cover A-G requirements, the different systems of higher education and a timeline for students throughout their high school career in preparation for the college application process.

· SoCal Roc is now enrolling for its 9-week courses: Adobe Suite (After Effects, Animate, Dreamweaver, Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop), Business Entrepreneur, and ITCC-Welding. Classes begin Nov. 13. Sign up in the CCC to speak with a SCROC counselor.
