· Tim Cooper Paddle Out: This Saturday, Oct. 27, let’s come together as a community to honor Tim Cooper with a Paddle Out. We will meet at the 8th Street Lifeguard Tower in Manhattan Beach at 10:00 am and paddle out from there. What to Bring: Please bring a flower/s, surfboard, paddle board, or anything else you can paddle out on.
· Our beloved trainer, colleague, and friend Tim Cooper trained thousands of athletes over the course of his career, and we will gather to honor him at Cooper Field (Waller Stadium) on Saturday, Oct. 27 at 2:00 pm. A reception will immediately follow in Fisher Gymnasium. All are welcome. A scholarship will be set up in Tim’s name. · JAPAN Spring Break 2020 – Parent Meeting Tuesday 10/30 at 6:30 pm in Room 72. Domo arigato!
· Knock, Knock! Who’s there? GOAT! Goat who? GO TO IMPROV CLUB! Meets every Tuesday in the Drama Room 1 at lunch!
· Like the idea of reciting poetry in front of a crowd? Then you should consider competing in Poetry Out Loud! January 16 is the date of this eighth-annual showdown; contestants memorize famous poems for a recitation throwdown. The winners compete to be the best in the county, state, then the whole nation; see Ms. Sieker or your English teacher for more information.
· Attention Students: Would you like to get free help from highly qualified tutors? Would you just like a place on campus where you can work and study after school? The Student-to-Student Tutoring Program that usually runs in the library will still be taking place while we wait for the library to re-open. It will be in Room 23 on Mondays and Wednesdays and in Room 18 on Tuesdays and Thursdays. These rooms will be open for studying and tutoring until 5 pm on those days.
· Hello Mustangs! Make sure you’re getting your costumes ready for the annual Halloween Costume Contest! It will be next Wednesday at nutrition. Prizes will be awarded at lunch.
· It’s that time of year! The 2018 Lip Sync Contest is here! Calling all clubs, sports teams, groups and individuals: Show us your Lip Sync skills and win a chance at PRIZE MONEY. Sign-ups continue TODAY, Oct. 29, 30 and Nov. 1. Look for the Dance Team table near the Mustang Mall. Show is Thursday, Nov. 15!

· ATTENTION SENIORS: This year Hoofprints has decided to make our senior superlative votes DIGITAL. Please check the email you have listed with Mira Costa High School to access the survey. All surveys will be tallied by November 9, so make sure your vote counts! We appreciate your participation class of 2019!
SPORTS
· Last chance to try out for Boys’ Soccer. If interested, meet Coach Smith in Room 132 at 3:00 pm Monday, Oct. 29. We will have a brief meeting then go to the field to play.
· If you are interested in trying out for the Girls’ Beach Volleyball Team, please visit our NEW website at https://miracostabeachvolleyball.com and register now, so that we can include you on our email distribution for additional information. Try-outs will be Monday and Wednesday, Jan. 14 & 16 from 2:30-4:30 at 2nd Street in Manhattan Beach. If you would like to meet our new head coach, Nancy Mason, and ask questions about the upcoming season, please join us for an informal meet & greet on Friday, Nov. 9 from 3:30 until dark. We will meet at the beach just north of Longfellow in Hermosa. Look for the Mira Costa pop-up tent. Parents welcome!

o College Personal Statement Revision – Please bring in a hard-copy of your essay if you would like feedback from one of the counselors. Typically essays are completed within 2-3 business days.
o Walk-in Wednesdays for help with applications, essay revisions and to have your questions answered! No appointment necessary. Walk-In Hours are on Wednesdays, from 3PM to 5PM.

· SoCal Roc is now enrolling for its 9-week courses: Adobe Suite (After Effects, Animate, Dreamweaver, Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop), Business Entrepreneur, and ITCC-Welding. Classes begin Nov. 13. Sign up in the CCC & speak with a SCROC counselor.
