· The annual Honor Roll Recognition Lunch sponsored by the MCHS PTSA will be held this Wednesday, Oct. 3. All teachers and staff will receive a complimentary In-N-Out lunch beginning at 11 am in the Mustang Mall (note new location).

STUDENT INFO
· Hello Mustangs! Spirit Days for next week are: Millionaire Monday (10/8); Tropical Tuesday (10/9); Wild West Wednesday (10/10), Tailgate Thursday (10/11) and Class Wars Friday (10/11). Prizes will go to homerooms that have more than 50% participation each day!
· Attention Mustangs! The MCHS Homecoming Dance “Dreamland” is Oct. 13! The evening includes dancing, games and snacks. Starting TODAY, Homecoming tickets will be sold in the Student Store at lunch and nutrition. Make sure to attend the last dance in the Gym! Pick up your permission forms at the Student Store or ASB Room for details.

· Come to the Gallery Room 60 to see a new Art Show from Art 2/3. The show, Heroes, is a collection of portraits. Open every day until Oct. 12.
· The annual Honor Roll Recognition Lunch sponsored by the PTSA is TODAY in the Mustang Mall (note new location). All eligible students must bring a current Mira Costa ID to the Auditorium from 9:30 – 11:30am TODAY to get a wristband. Event is for students who earned a GPA of 3.5 or higher last semester at MCHS. In-N-Out will serve lunch; grilled cheese sandwiches available.
· Art Night is back for a second year! All students are invited to sell their artwork or crafts at the 2nd annual fall Art Night. Sign up at: http://bit.ly/costaartnight. There will also be crafts for all to participate in. Art Night at Mira Costa will be held Oct. 12, 5-7pm in the quad by Room 109. All students, faculty and staff are invited to bring friends and family for a fun evening of art!
CLUBS AND ORGANIZATIONS
· The Astronomy and Space Club is back! Come to Room 248 at lunch TODAY to do fun experiments, plan field trips and more!
· Come to the first GALS (Girls Advancing Leadership in STEM) club meeting this Friday, Oct 5 at lunch! Our goal is to help both younger kids and ourselves learn and become involved in the field. We meet in Ms. Hearn’s Room 250. We’d love to see you there; everyone is welcome!
· NHS Leadership applications are now being accepted Information can be found on the school NHS webpage under “Leadership.” Applications are due Monday 10/8 by 3 pm.
· NHS Members: For those interested in running for leadership positions this year, an optional info meeting will be held in Room 45 during AM Office Hours TODAY.
· Every Wednesday (TODAY) there is Drama Club in the Drama Room 1! Make sure to come for important information about Drama/Tech events!
· Mira Costa Gender Sexuality Alliance meets every Thursday at lunch in Room 23, Mr. Zeoli’s. Meet a group of loving and supporting people, engage in activist work to help make campus a more accepting environment, and raise funds for various charities and organizations.
· Math Club meetings are held every Tuesday at lunch. Come to Room 131 if you want to improve your skills, learn new concepts, and compete against other mathletes! All levels of math are welcome.

· SENIORS – Visit the CCC for College Application Assistance:
o College Personal Statement Revision – Please bring in a hard-copy of your essay if you would like feedback from one of the counselors. Typically essays are completed within 2-3 business days.
o Walk-in Wednesdays for help with applications, essay revisions and to have your questions answered! No appointment necessary. Walk-In Hours are on Wednesdays, from 3PM to 5PM.
o Application Workshops in the CCC Please sign up for the presentations on Naviance (under “College Visits” tab)

· SoCal Roc is now enrolling for its 9-week courses: Adobe Suite (After Effects, Animate, Dreamweaver, Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop), Business Entrepreneur, and ITCC-Welding. Classes begin Nov. 13. Sign up in the CCC & speak with a SCROC counselor.
