FACULTY
· The annual Honor Roll Recognition Lunch sponsored by the MCHS PTSA will be held Wednesday, Oct. 3. All teachers and staff will receive a complimentary In-N-Out lunch beginning at 11 am in front of the Admin Building.
STUDENT INFO
· The MCHS Homecoming Dance is Oct. 13 in the Gym! The evening includes dancing, games and snacks. Tickets are on sale NOW in the Student Store. Ticket vouchers are available on the MCHS Webstore: https://mchswebstore.myschoolcentral.com. Pick up your permission forms at the Student Store or ASB Room for more details.

· Come to the Gallery Room 60 to see a new Art Show from Art 2/3. The show, Heroes, is a collection of portraits. Open every day until Oct. 12.
· The annual Honor Roll Recognition Lunch sponsored by the MCHS PTSA will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 3. All eligible students must bring their current Mira Costa ID to the Auditorium between 9:30 – 11:30 am that day to pick up a wristband. Please note that morning Office Hours will take place from 9:27 – 10:24 am. This event is for students who earned a GPA of 3.5 or higher last semester at Mira Costa. In-N-Out will serve lunch starting at 11:10. Grilled cheese sandwiches are also available.
· Art Night is back for a second year! All students are invited to sell their artwork or crafts at the 2nd annual fall Art Night. Sign up at: http://bit.ly/costaartnight. There will also be crafts for all to participate in. Art Night at Mira Costa will be held Oct. 12, 5-7pm in the quad by Room 109. All students, faculty and staff are invited to bring friends and family for a fun evening of art!
· MB Hometown Fair Art Exhibit – Attention Costa students: Enter your artwork by the deadline, Oct. 2 for exhibition at the Hometown Fair Oct. 6 & 7. Submissions may be in 2D, 3D, photography or fiber artwork. The application can be found at this link: http://www.mbfair.org/applications/.
CLUBS AND ORGANIZATIONS
· October 5, Friday, there is a Comedy Sportz Match in the Small Theater at 7 pm. Guaranteed laughs! $5 per student.
· Improv Club is every Tuesday in the Drama Room 1! Come for lots of laughs and a good time!
· Every Wednesday there is Drama Club in the Drama Room 1! Make sure to come for important information about Drama/Tech events!
· If you like math, or if you want volunteer hours and you want to help tutor middle-schoolers, come to Together We Tutor Club this Tuesday in Mr. Locke’s Room 352.
· Mira Costa Gender Sexuality Alliance meets every Thursday at lunch in Room 23, Mr. Zeoli’s. Meet a group of loving and supporting people, engage in activist work to help make campus a more accepting environment, and raise funds for various charities and organizations.
· Come to Creative Writing Club on Mondays (TODAY) to meet other passionate authors and poets and share your creativity! Room 207.
· Do you want to be published in Mira Costa’s Literary Magazine PaperCut? It’s easy! Just email your poetry, prose, photography, or artwork to [email protected].
· Math Club meetings are held every Tuesday at lunch. Come to Room 131 if you want to improve your skills, learn new concepts, and compete against other mathletes! All levels of math are welcome.
· The Math Club is starting up a chapter for the Mu Alpha Theta Honors Society at Mira Costa. Interested in new competitions, college scholarships, and a larger network of mathematicians? Come to Math Club on Tuesday in Room 131 for more information and to sign up.

· College Representative Visits In The CCC – If visit is during class please get teacher permission to attend. This is an opportunity to learn about your schools of interest and meet the admission counselors. View all visits and sign-up to attend on NAVIANCE. Please bring your school ID.

*Admission Representative Dan Seidman will share information about Michigan State and the new Spartan Select Program. It’s a partnership between MCHS and MSU that will provide all admitted students with a scholarship.
· SENIORS – Visit the CCC for College Application Assistance:
o College Personal Statement Revision – Please bring in a hard-copy of your essay if you would like feedback from one of the counselors. Typically essays are completed within 2-3 business days.
o Walk-in Wednesdays for help with applications, essay revisions and to have your questions answered! No appointment necessary. Walk-In Hours are on Wednesdays, from 3PM to 5PM.
o Application Workshops in the CCC Please sign up for the presentations on Naviance (under “College Visits” tab)

· SoCal Roc is now enrolling for its 9-week courses: Adobe Suite (After Effects, Animate, Dreamweaver, Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop), Business Entrepreneur, and ITCC-Welding. Classes begin Nov. 13. Come to the CCC to sign up and speak with a SCROC counselor.
