SAT 6/2 – Prom 2018, “Bright Lights, Big City” at the Belasco Theater in L.A.
TUE 6/5 – MCHS Orchestras Pops Concert at 7 pm in the Auditorium
FRI 6/8 – MCHS Choirs Spring Concert – Sing a Mighty Song! at 7 pm in the Auditorium; Seniors – text books and obligations due to the Library TODAY.
STUDENT INFO
· AP Capstone, Seminar and Research students for next year: An informational meeting for the program for next year will take place in Mrs. Cabrera’s Room 45 on Friday, 6/1 at lunch to begin prepping for next school year! Please arrive promptly – a suggested reading list will be available.
· Time to start returning books! The last day for Seniors to return items is Friday, June 8. The last day to return for all other students is the last day of Finals, June 14. If you're no longer using your book and want to avoid the long lines, go ahead and check it in at the Library now. You can also take care of any lost or damaged items. Don't wait until the last minute! After May 31, cash only will be accepted. If you plan to write a check for a fine, take care of it before next Thursday. SENIORS, make sure all obligations are cleared in the library by June 8 so you can walk at graduation.
· Come to AP Studios Art’s last show this year to see unique and interactive art projects. You can take cool Instagram photos with our projected digital art, draw on our art, or come just to observe. We promise this show is like nothing you’ve seen before!
· Submit your entry for the 2018 – 2019 Mira Costa Student Planner Cover Design Contest to Mrs. Heredia in Art Room 62 by Monday, June 4! See the website for more information and entry rules. Enter as many pieces as you like. Designs will be displayed and voted upon by faculty and students. Students with the three winning designs will receive prizes, compliments of the Student Store! Get creative!
· The Library is holding a lunch-time CHESS TOURNAMENT. Games will be played in a modified bracket over a series of days, June 4 – 7. All level of players welcome! Come by the Library to sign up!
· Yearbooks will be distributed in early June. Yearbooks will be sold on an as-available basis for $125 CASH ONLY after reserved students have picked up their books. If you want to make sure you get a book when your grade level is distributed, ORDER NOW. Any questions? See Mrs. Cessor in the Student Store.
· NEED COMMUNITY SERVICE? LUNCHES WITH LOVE’s LAST delivery of the school year is Sunday, June 3. Please drop off your hygiene kits in front of Super Sports between 8 and 8:30am. · Portraits of Hope Club: Enjoy painting or need community service hours? Come to the Portraits of Hope Paint-a-thon at the South Bay Galleria. Friday, June 1, 4:00 – 9:00 pm. Friends and family welcome.

· Attention! Time is running out for this week’s Food Drive benefiting the LA Food Bank. Please bring canned or non-perishable food items to our collection boxes in select classrooms as well as the main quad and front office. Help us meet our goal and fight poverty!
· Are you interested in computers or a possible career path in cyber security? Please come to the meeting at lunch TODAY in Mrs. Weaver’s Room 112 and learn about the Cyber Security Club. · COLLEGE APPLICATION 101 SERIES IN THE CCC – Sign up on Naviance.
o TODAY, 5/30 at 5:00pm – Understanding the Selective College Admission Process Join the Syracuse Admissions Representative, Camille Crites, to learn more about what goes into the holistic review process at selective schools– It’s more than just numbers.
o Thursday, 5/31 at 2:00pm – Essay Writing Workshop Learn more about how your college essay can enhance your application and effectively share your story.
o Tuesday, 6/5 at 5:30pm – International College Options Join admission representatives from several International universities to learn more about attending college abroad.
This series will be most helpful for juniors and their parents, however all grade levels are welcome to attend!
· SoCal Roc is now enrolling for an El Camino Summer Bridge course (classes begin July 9) and the Fall 2018 semester (classes beginning September 10). Come to the CCC to sign up and learn more about the Summer Bridge course and the classes we offer.
