STUDENT INFO
· Friday, May 18 is Art Night, an evening of arts and crafts. All students are welcome to attend, and sell their artwork or crafts. Activities include button making, t-shirt screen printing and face painting. Friends and family are also invited. The event will take place at Mira Costa outside Room 109 from 5-7 pm. · Come to Room 60, the Gallery, at lunch this Thursday, May 3 to see a collection of artwork by Maren Appert. Snacks provided!
· Link Crew acceptance letters have officially gone out! If you have been absent, or would like to double check the acceptance list, please come to Room 20 ASAP. Acceptance letters are due back to Ms. Hutchinson in Room 20 by THIS FRIDAY, MAY 4 or your position will be offered to another interested student. Thank you to all who applied!
· Costa Pride Day is coming up! Need Volunteer hours? Want to help beautify Costa? We need lots of volunteers for Costa Pride Day on Saturday, May 19. We have plants to plant and clean up and beautification that need your help to transform our campus! Show your Mustang Pride by coming to help make Costa campus look great! Meet at the Cafeteria on May 19 at 9:30 to receive instructions. Pride Day runs from 9:30 am – 12:30 pm. Please contact Laurel Ulrich with questions: [email protected].
· The Surf Team is holding tryouts for current Freshmen, Sophomores and Juniors interested in joining the team. Tryouts will be held at 6:30 am this Thursday, May 3, at the 26th St. lifeguard tower in Manhattan Beach. You will be done by 7:15 in order to make it to 1st Period. Tryouts will be competitive heats.
· The ASB Finance Office and Student Store will be closed TODAY, May 2 through Tuesday, May 7. Club Day business will be handled by Mrs. Claypoole in Room 41.
· NEED COMMUNITY SERVICE? Collect travel size toiletries from your friends, neighbors and families and assemble hygiene kits for LUNCHES WITH LOVE. Our next delivery is Sunday, May 6. Only one more delivery before the end of school year. Do it with your friends/team/troop to make it FUN! The Union Rescue Mission is depending on us. THANK YOU! · Independent Study Athletics (ISA) REMINDER: Applications for the 2018-2019 school year are DUE on or before May 16! The application is on the school’s website under ATHLETICS!

CLUBS AND ORGANIZATIONS
· Come to the HH (Helping Hands) Club on Thursdays in Room 400. Bring clothes for our Clothing Drive and eat pizza!
· Club Day is this Thursday, May 3 during lunch! Bring money and your appetite!
· Come to Drama Club every Wednesday (TODAY) during lunch in Room 1 for announcement on new, exciting things happening in the Drama/Tech Department.
COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER
· The El Camino Counselor will be in the CCC TODAY, May 2 for appointments (9:30am-1:30pm) and a registration workshop during lunch (11:10am-11:40am). Sign up for your appointment in the CCC.
· El Camino College Career Mini Fair – Wednesday, May 9 at 9:30am-11:30am Considering a career in Engineering Tech, Automotive Tech, Cosmetology, HVAC, Welding, or becoming an Emergency Medical Tech? Don’t miss the El Camino College Career Mini Fair in the Mira Costa CCC! Check out these programs and learn information from the El Camino staff representing each of these programs. All grade levels and parents are welcome!
· JUNIORS: Want an insiders’ view to the College application process? The Mira Costa High School College & Career Center invites the Junior Class to the Case Study College Night and Mini College Fair on Tuesday, May 15 at 6:00 pm. Parents and students will be led through various mock admissions committees to gain insight and understanding as to what is valued in an application. This event is an engaging and effective way to discuss the college application process with college admission representatives from around the country. A college mini fair with over 20 different private and out of state colleges will be held in the Cafeteria immediately following this event, beginning at 7:15 pm. Space for the Case Study activity is limited to 150 juniors and ONE parent/guardian per student. Students must sign up through Naviance – Log into your Naviance account, click on college tab→click on view all upcoming visits→sign-up. The mini fair is open to all students and parents, no sign-up required.
· SENIORS:
*Important*– All graduating seniors are required to complete the Senior Clearance process by submitting their post-high school plans. Please complete the following steps and bring copies to the CCC by May 18:
—If you are planning to enter a 4-year or Community College:
1. Updated Naviance college admissions results page. (Go to the College tab. For colleges that you did NOT end up applying to, mark as “withdrawn.” For colleges that you applied to and did not get into, mark “denied.” For colleges you applied to and got into, mark “accepted.” Finally, indicate which school you are going to attend at the bottom of the page.
2. Completed senior survey (on Naviance, under the “About Me” tab)
3. Acceptance letter from the school you will be attending, or verbally tell us your plans for next year (taking a gap year, job, military, traveling, etc.)
This process will ensure that your final transcript will be sent to the school you plan to attend in the fall.

1. Stop in the CCC to let us know your plans.
· SoCal Roc is now enrolling for the Fall 2018 semester. Classes begin September 10. Come to the CCC to sign up and learn more about the classes and meet with the SoCal Roc Counselor.
