STUDENT INFO

·            AP Students: The first AP Exam pre-identification session is this Thursday, April 19 at 7:00 am in the Library. The meeting will last approximately 40 minutes. Students need to be on time and bring a #2 pencil and something (a clipboard, book, etc.) on which to write.

·            The Drama/Tech Department’s production of How to Succeed in Business without Really Trying opens this Friday at 7:30 pm! Buy tickets at the Student Store every day at lunch, or go to miracostadramaboosters.org! Pre-sale tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students and seniors.

·            Call for art! All students are invited to enter a piece into the 18th Annual All Media Art Show. Work can be in any medium including drawing, painting, sculpture, photography and mixed media. See any art teacher or Mrs. Heredia in Room 62 for official entry form. Deadline to enter work is April 20. The show will be held at Resin Gallery in Hermosa Beach on April 27 from 5-7pm.

·            Attention Staff & Students: There is a clearance sale of leftover Stampede Shirts and Mira Costa gear. Almost everything is $5. Come to Room 41, NOT the student store!

·            La Vista is holding its annual photo contest! If you are interested in photography, email your photos to [email protected] with your name, grade level, photos and photo titles by TODAY.

·            Attention Next Year’s Seniors 2018-2019! Registration continues for student parking lottery for the 2018-2019 school year. Interested students should register online at the MCHS ASB Web Store. There is no cost to sign up, and you will receive a receipt for registration. Please review the Parking Permit Guidelines posted on the MCHS Website before registering.*Please note: This is a lottery for students who will be seniors ONLY. It is NOT first come/first served. If you are selected you will be notified via email and provided further instructions. Any students having difficulty registering online should contact Donna Cessor in the ASB Finance Office.

 

CLUBS AND ORGANIZATIONS

·         Come to Drama Club every Wednesday in Room 1 during lunch to learn about new and exciting things happening in the Drama/Tech Department.

·         As Hank Williams would say… Lord, I love to hear her when she calls me sweet Improv Club, Tuesdays (TODAY) at lunch in Room 1.

·         Come to Club Harmony in Room 207 at lunch on TODAY to learn how to increase social inclusiveness!

COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER

·         College Representative Visits In The CCC – If visit is during class please get teacher permission to attend. This is an opportunity to learn about your schools of interest and meet the admission counselors. View all visits and sign up to attend on NAVIANCE.

o  TODAY, 4/17 University of South Carolina at 12:20pm (lunch).

o  Wednesday, 4/18 UC Santa Cruz at 9:27am, Young Arts Foundation Scholarship Presentation at 9:27am (both AM Office Hours), and El Camino College Appointments at 9:30-1:00pm.

o  Friday, 4/20 Bradley University at 9:00am

·         SoCal Roc is now enrolling for the Fall 2018 semester. Classes begin September 10. Come to the CCC to sign up and learn more about the classes and meet with the SoCal Roc Counselor. 

·         College Events

o  El Camino Warrior Smart Start Saturday, April 21 (Check-in at 8:15am) This is an opportunity to complete your Orientation, Assessment & Ed Plan. ·         Summer Programs

o  Featured Summer Pre-College Program: Otis College Summer of Art Program An intensive, four-week, pre-college program is for students 15 and older who wish to study at one of the top art and design colleges in the country.  Course work includes hands-on studio courses and labs in your chosen specialization. To receive the 2018 Summer of Art brochure by mail, fill out the Rush Me Info (/summer-art/rush-me-info) form, or call 310-665-6864.

o  Summer Internship Opportunity – The Frank Scotto for State Assembly 2018 Campaign is offering interested students an opportunity to learn about the elections process. Interns will play an active and hands-on role in campaign research, interacting with voters, and learn the operations of a campaign office. ·         Free Practice Tests at Mira Costa  L.A. Tutors is offering free testing on Saturday, May 12 (ACT/SAT).  Register at http://www.latutors123.com/proctored-tests/mira-costa/.  Tests start at 9 am SHARP. Be there at 8:45 am to check in. After your test, you will receive a comprehensive score report and a complimentary consultation on how you can reach your test score goals.
