· All current 9th, 10th, and 11th grade students – The Course Selection window is now open for all students:
The Course Selection Window will close for ALL students on Friday, Mar. 30. Please watch your MBUSDapps.org email for information related to selecting courses. You can also visit our website under “Latest News” and click on the “New Student Enrollment, Course Selection, Registration” button for videos and documents that will help guide you through this process.
· “No pain, no gain.” We apply this attitude to sports, why not academia? Hear a true story of success from Doug McIntyre in the Speakers Series talk, “The Benefits from Failure” on May 21 in the small theater.
· Hey, Costa! Did you know that you can win Kings tickets, Disneyland tickets, concert tickets and/or Swell bottles and Corsickle Canteens? Join us at Casino Night/Sadie Hawkins Saturday, Mar. 24. Tickets on Sale NOW!
· The ever popular Scholar Quiz continues TODAY during lunch. See miracostahigh.org site under LATEST NEWS for team seeding, dates, and classroom locations. Stop by and help cheer on the teams as they compete!
· Any sophomores or juniors interested in being Link Crew Leaders next year should drop by Room 20 for an application this week anytime other than lunch (the room will be used for Scholar Quiz). Our next informational lunch meeting is Tuesday, March 20. Current Link Leaders: make sure you get the “returning Leader application.” All applications are due to Room 20 by Wednesday, March 28.
· Come to the Dessert Theatre on Thursday, March 22nd at 7 p.m. in the small theater to watch the scenes, monologues, and music the Drama/Tech Department is bringing to competition! The cost is only $5 and desserts will be served at intermission.
· Attention, incoming juniors! Mrs. Cabrera will be hosting an informational session for AP Capstone (AP seminar and AP research) during lunch on Tuesday, March 20th in room 45. For more information, see her staff page on the Costa website!
· Incoming Juniors & Seniors finalizing classes with your counselors for next year: Honors Earth Science is the place to be. *Earn college credit with no AP exam; four major fields of study are Astronomy, Oceanography, Meteorology and Geology. See Mr. Kurz, UCLA Instructor Honors Earth Science, in Room 238 or email [email protected] for more details. Edutainer of the year 2003, 2005-2018. (*College credit is optional and students should check on transferability with the undergraduate admissions office at the college of their choice.)
SENIORS
· John Zavala of Jostens will be on campus on Friday, Mar. 23 at snack and lunch in front of the Auditorium to distribute Graduation Announcements and for late orders.
· Mustang Club meets every Monday at lunch in Room 15! Come and express your Mustang Spirit!
CLUBS & ORGANIZATIONS
· Cyber Patriot members, remember to stop by Mrs. Weaver’s Room 112 to vote for leadership for next year and purchase your meal tickets before the banquet Mar. 20 from 6-8 pm. Voting ends 2 pm on Tuesday!
· Come to Drama Club this Wednesday at lunch in room 1 and learn about the exciting events coming up in the Drama/Tech Department!
· Improv Club meets on Tuesdays at lunch in room 1.
COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER
· College Representative Visits In The CCC – If visit is during class please get teacher permission to attend. This is an opportunity to learn about your schools of interest and meet the admission counselors. View all visits and sign up to attend on NAVIANCE.
o Tuesday, 3/20 – UC Merced at 1:00pm.
o Wednesday, 3/21 – LA County Lifeguards at 9:27am (AM Office Hours). Learn more about becoming an LA County Ocean Lifeguard.
o Wednesday, 3/21 – The El Camino counselor will be in the CCC from 9:27 am to 1:00 pm to assist you with your Ed plans and answer any questions you may have. Please sign up for your appointment in the CCC.
· SoCal Roc is now enrolling for its 9-week courses: Adobe Suite, Business Entrepreneur, Banking & Financial Services, and Event Planning (NEW). Classes begin April 9. Natalie Hansen, the SoCalRoc counselor is available in the CCC every Monday, 8:30am-10:30am. Please sign up in the CCC to meet with her.

o Featured Summer Program
Miami University Summer Scholars Program – An opportunity for academically talented rising high school juniors and seniors to spend two weeks on Miami’s campus exploring the topic of their choice alongside leading faculty and professional experts. The program offers an insider’s look at the college application process, with structured workshops focused on application essay writing, an intro to financial aid and scholarships, and sessions on developing leadership skills.
