WED 2/7 – Office Hours/2nd Period Drill Schedule; Signing Day in the quad; Student Recognition during PM Office Hours; Blood Drive in the Gym; This is Costa in the Math & Science Building for Incoming 9th grade parents at 6:15-7:15 pm (A-K last name) and 7:30 – 8:30 pm (L-Z last name)
THU 2/8 – Principal’s Tour at 9 am in the Admin Office; All-District Orchestra Festival Concert at 6:30 pm

STUDENT INFO
· AP Students: Registration for the Advanced Placement exams will take place Jan. 29 through Feb. 2 during lunch only at the student store. The registration fee is $99 per exam. Late registration will be held Feb. 5 through Feb. 9 during lunch only at the student store, but an extra $15 late fee for each exam will be charged. Be sure to bring your completed blue worksheet indicating the exams you will be taking, cash or check made out to MCHS for the registration fee, and a pen to complete the actual registration form. Online registration is also available now. Go to ASB Webstore on the MCHS website. A credit card is required, and there is a small convenience fee for online registration.
· Scholar Quiz Registration opens February 7 at 6:45am. NEW this year: ON - LINE registration at https://www.miracostahigh.org/apps/form/form.MIRCOSHS.qHectyo.hA. Selections will be made on a first come, first served basis, regardless of grade, and will be time stamped upon on line registration. The Scholar Quiz dates are March 13, 14, 15, 16, 19, 21. Only 64 teams will be guaranteed entry. All others will be placed on a list of alternates. Questions? Contact Laurie Baker @ [email protected].
· Reflections Art Contest entrants: Please pick up your contest submissions from Ms. Gardner in the main office at snack, lunch or after school.
· It is that time of year again for the February Blood Drive. Please sign up with an ASB member or come to Room 40. Blood Drive will be Wednesday, Feb. 7.
· Hey students! Just a reminder that Winter Formal tickets are on sale! Buy your tickets online or at the student store now! Forms are available at the Student Store or Room 40 ASB.
· Mira Costa Dance Team presents Mini Mustang Dance Camp TODAY from 3:30 – 8:30 pm for 1st through 8th grade students. Your child will have a blast with the National Championship MCHS Dance Team! Camp will include Dance (of course), games and crafts as well as an optional performance during a MC basketball game. · It’s CSF time again! The California Scholarship Federation membership drive runs now and ends on Friday, Feb. 2. Applications may be picked up in Room 243. If you don’t know what CSF is all about, please come to Room 243 at snack or lunch during the membership drive to ask questions.
CLUBS & ORGANIZATIONS
· Attention all clubs: The Club Semester 1 Report is due TODAY, and you must submit an updated copy of your club roster.
COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER
· PSAT SCORES – If you took the PSAT in October, your detailed score sheets and test booklets are now available in the CCC for pick-up.
· El Camino Assessment Testing at MCHS• Jan. 31 at 11:45am in Room 241. (This is during class time, so please clear with your teachers.) If you are planning to attend El Camino this fall, you can take advantage of this on-campus testing session. To take the test you must have an El Camino College student ID number (you receive this ID number when you apply to El Camino College). Seating is limited; please sign up on Naviance for a spot.
· College Admissions Panel for Out of State and International Schools on Feb. 6, 5:30 to 7PM in the CCC.
Please join representatives from the University of New Mexico, Arizona State University, Syracuse, and the American University of Paris for an informational evening on an out-of-state college experience. With thousands of options available, helping students decide where to attend college can be a challenging task. However this presentation will pave the road to refining choices and how to pay for it!! The informative and entertaining workshop covers in-state choices, out-of-state possibilities, the top reasons students choose a college, the various costs, financial aid and scholarship opportunities - merit, need or both! · SoCalRoc: SoCal Roc is now enrolling for the spring 2018 semester. Classes begin January 29. The SoCalRoc Counselor is available in the CCC every Monday from 8:30 – 10:30 am. Please sign up in the CCC to meet with her or drop in for more information about SoCalRoc class offerings.
