·      It is that time of year again for the February Blood Drive. Please sign up with an ASB member or come to Room 40. Blood Drive will be Wednesday, Feb. 7.

·      Hey students! Just a reminder that Winter Formal ticket prices go up after this Wednesday, 1/24. Buy your tickets online or at the student store now!

·      FRESHMEN: You are invited to Link Crew’s Donut Day this Wednesday during AM Office Hours! Come to the cafeteria at the start of Office Hours to find your Link Leaders and enjoy a sweet treat. You’ll need your LC group number, which has been sent to your school email. Looking forward to seeing you there!

·      Mira Costa Dance Team presents Mini Mustang Dance Camp on Jan. 26 from 3:30 – 8:30 pm for 1st through 8th grade students. Your child will have a blast with the National Championship MCHS Dance Team! Camp will include Dance (of course), games and crafts as well as an optional performance during a MC basketball game. ·      It’s CSF time again! The California Scholarship Federation membership drive will begin TODAY and end on Friday, Feb. 2. Applications may be picked up in Room 243. If you don’t know what CSF is all about, please come to Room 243 at snack or lunch during the membership drive to ask questions.

·      Costa Rica 2019! Join us at our first meeting TODAY, 1/23 at lunch in Room 72 with Sra. Geczi. Pura Vida!

·      Winter Formal tickets are out now! Join us on Saturday, Feb. 10 at the Crowne Plaza LAX Hotel at 7 pm. Buy your tickets online or in the Student Store. Pick up forms in the Student Store or in Room 40. See you there!

·      The Creative Writing and Art 2 and 3 classes invite all students and staff to a new art show titled “Draw and Write: Dark and Light.” The show is open TODAY through Jan. 24 at lunch in the gallery Room 60.

·      Attention musicians and computer programmers: Matthew Rice, Class of 2015, will be presenting a mini lecture on Audio Signal Processing during AM office hours on Jan. 24 in Room 51. Topics will include how to use computers to manipulate and transform sound waves. Learn how to create your own sounds! All are welcome.

CLUBS & ORGANIZATIONS

·      Attention all clubs: The Club Semester 1 Report is due on or before Friday, Jan. 26, and you must submit an updated copy of your club roster.

·      Come to Drama Club every Wednesday in Room 1 during lunch to learn about new and exciting opportunities in the Drama/Tech Department!

·      Four score and seven years ago, Improv Club was created & is still around on Tuesdays (TODAY) during lunch, Room 1.

·      Do you want to be a published artist, photographer, poet? Submit to Reflections, the Literary Magazine of Costa! Submit poetry, prose, artwork and photography to [email protected]!

·      Come to Club Harmony in Room 207 at lunch TODAY to hear Emily Angstreich speak about mental health awareness!

COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER

·      PSAT SCORES – If you took the PSAT in October, your detailed score sheets and test booklets are now available in the CCC for pick-up.

·      SENIORS

UPDATE – ONE FINAL SCHOLARSHIP NOTEBOOK MEETING ADDED, TODAY, JAN 23 – SIGN UP ON NAVIANCE

Scholarship Notebook Program The scholarship notebook is a personal profile that will be read by members of community scholarship committees. Each scholarship committee creates their own criteria for selection and carefully screens the applicants to find the appropriate candidates for their scholarships. To be eligible to participate in the program students must attend ONE information meeting. The final meeting will be held in the CCC during lunch: TODAY, Tuesday, Jan. 23. Sign-up on Naviance prior to the meeting to be admitted.  Please bring $7 to purchase folders.

El Camino Assessment Testing at MCHSJan. 31 at 11:45am in Room 241. (This is during class time, so please clear with your teachers.)  If you are planning to attend El Camino this fall, you can take advantage of this on-campus testing session. To take the test you must have an El Camino College student ID number (you receive this ID number when you apply to El Camino College). Seating is limited; please sign up on Naviance for a spot.

·      College Representative Visits In The CCC – If visit is during class please get teacher permission to attend. This is an opportunity to learn about your schools of interest and meet the admission counselors. View all visits and sign up to attend on NAVIANCE.

·      SoCalRoc: SoCal Roc is now enrolling for the Spring 2018 semester. Classes begin January 29. The SoCalRoc Counselor is available in the CCC every Monday from 8:30 – 10:30 am. Please sign up in the CCC to meet with her or drop in for more information about SoCalRoc class offerings.
