STUDENT INFO
• If you would like to exercise your entrepreneurial muscles, please consider enrolling in the Young Entrepreneurs Academy. Our motto is “from student to CEO.” We offer 6th – 12th grade students a chance to develop a business plan, pitch that business plan to potential investors and realize running your own business before you have even graduated. The least that will happen is you will develop presentation and business skills that will help you as you move forward. The once a week, 21-week program starts in November and ends in May. The investors may choose your business to participate in the all-expense paid national competition in Rochester, NY in May, 2018. Last year Isabelle Hory, MBMS 6th Grader, went to Rochester and made it to the final 8 round of competition. She is now getting a patent for her idea. Only 24 students will be allowed in the program. Partial scholarships are available. If interested in applying, contact: [email protected] or [email protected]. For more information please call 310-545-5313.
• NEED COMMUNITY SERVICE? Our next Lunches with Love delivery is Sunday, Sept. 24. We are known for delivering bagged lunches in the past but have been notified by Skid Row officials that they desperately need hygiene kits. Therefore we are ONLY collecting bagged hygiene kits (shampoo, soap or body wash, toothpaste, toothbrush, comb or brush, deodorant, disposable razor, bottle of water all sealed in a gallon Ziploc bag). For more info visit us at http://luncheswithlovemb.my-free.website/ and like us on facebook https://www.facebook.com/luncheswithlovemb.
• Costapalooza! Homecoming! Friday, Oct. 20, at lunch. Know of a great student band? Let us know! This year, Costapalooza will feature one student band on the Quad during lunch. To be considered, email the name of your band, your members, contact information and a sample of your music to Ed McKeegan ([email protected]) no later than Friday, Sept. 15. Team Costa reps will vote on the band to perform. Bands must have a minimum of three musicians. At least one member must be a current Costa student. Bands can bring their own equipment/set up, or we’ll provide it for you.
SPORTS
• Are you interested in joining the Mustang Track & Field Team? Tryouts will be Wednesday, Sept. 13 at 3 pm at the track. It will be a one-day tryout. Wear workout clothing, running shoes, and bring water. Coaches will contact the athletes with the results by Friday, Sept. 15. Athletes who make the squad will take part in the 6th period workouts (schedule changes will be handled through the counseling office).
