STUDENT INFO           

·      Yearbook Distribution Will Begin Monday June 5 at the Student Store. YOU MUST PRESENT YOUR ORIGINAL COSTA ID TO RECEIVE YOUR YEARBOOK.

o   Seniors and Juniors may pick up beginning at 12:30 pm through 4:30 pm Monday.

o   Freshmen and Sophomores may pick up beginning at 3:00 pm Monday and continuing through 4:30 pm. There will be no point-of-pickup purchases on Monday, June 5.

o   Tuesday, June 6 all grades can pick up and/or purchase during lunch and after school.

·      Come see the Mira Costa Dance Company performance on June 8 at 7 pm in the Small Theater!

·      If you are interested in trying out for the Boys’ Basketball summer program, the tryout will be at Mira Costa from 5:45 – 7:30 pm on Tuesday, June 6 and Thursday, June 8.

·      The last Comedy Sportz Match is this Friday at 7 pm in the Small Theater for $5! It is Seniors vs. Alumni, so don’t miss it!

·      To ensure payment before the close of the school year, please submit requests for checks or reimbursements to the ASB Finance Office by TODAY. We will accept payment requests until June 12; however those received after TODAY may not receive their payment until late June. Remember that all reimbursement requests must include ORIGINAL ITEMIZED receipts. Copies of receipts will not be accepted. Also please be advised that purchase of gift cards for any reason cannot be reimbursed. Clubs should not be carrying a large balance into the new school year. Plan your activities and turn in your expenses NOW.

·      Incoming Juniors and Seniors finalizing classes with your counselors for next year: Honors Earth Science through UCLA is the class for you! Located right here at Mira Costa in Room 238, it is the only Dual Credit class (high school and college credit) at Mira Costa. The *transcript can earn you credit to another college, even if you do not go to UCLA. No AP exam. Four major fields of study are astronomy, oceanography, meteorology and geology! Boost your GPA! See Mr. Kurz, UCLA Instructor Honors Earth Science in Room 238 or email [email protected] for more details. Edutainer of the year 2003, 2005-2017. *College credit is optional; students should check transferability with the undergraduate admissions office at the college of their choice.

·      Students may pick up lost and confiscated items from Prom in the admin office at snack or lunch only.

 

FACULTY

·      Teachers – Don’t forget to come to the faculty lounge on Tuesday, June 6 for a free celebratory lunch to kick off the summer. See you there!

SENIORS

·      If you haven’t done so yet, pick up your cap & gown ASAP from Ms. Gardner in the office at snack, lunch or after school ONLY.

CLUBS & ORGANIZATIONS

·      Come to the Animal Shelter Club Fridays at lunch in Mrs. Clarke’s Room 55 to help dogs and cats of all ages find their forever homes.

COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER

·      Visits:

SMC Enrollment Workshop – Wednesday, June 7 at 12:20 (lunch). Please sign up on Naviance under “College Visits.”

·      Applying to College 101 Series presented in the CCC:

*New* College Essay Workshop – Wednesday, June 7 at 3:00 pm. Get a jump-start on writing your college essays and personal statements! Receive tips and strategies on: what admissions counselors are looking for, coming up with stand-out ideas, and executing and polishing a solid essay. Please RSVP on Naviance, under “College Visits.”

June 29, 2017 at 6:30pm-8:30pm. Learn about the duties and detailed responsibilities for the firefighter position, and what to expect at the Fire Academy. Los Angeles County Fire Dept.
