STUDENT INFO           

·      AP Students: The final AP Exam pre-identification sessions are scheduled as follows:

    • Monday, April 24                   7 pm                            Library
    • Tuesday, April 25                   7 pm                            Library
    • Wednesday, April 26 AM & PM Office Hours           Small Theater

Each meeting will last approximately 40 minutes. Students must attend one session, be on time, and bring a #2 pencil and something (a clipboard, book, etc.) on which to write.

·      AP Students: The last AP Exam pre-identification sessions are Wednesday, April 26, during both AM and PM Office hours in the Small Theater (new). ·      The Mira Costa History Project has produced the first in a series of limited edition commemorative T-Shirts featuring the iconic Costa Auditorium. Our auditorium was designed by Architect Ralph C. Flewelling and dedicated in February 1962. The photography and graphics are by senior Carson Campman. Shirts are available at snack and lunch, for a $15.95 donation, from Mr. Currier in Room 222. We have all sizes. Get yours today!

·      What do three students of the year and alumni at USC, Stanford and Berkeley have in common? They were all on the Mustang Morning News Staff. Apply now to be on next year’s staff at mustangmorningnews.com/join-the-staff.

CLUBS & ORGANIZATIONS

·      Investors’ Club: Come and watch the Finance Director of Manhattan Beach speak about public finance this Tuesday, 4/25, in Room 225. A summer internship may be available to interested students.

COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER

·      SENIORS: All graduating seniors are required to complete the Senior Clearance process by submitting their post-high school plans. Please complete the following steps and bring copies to the CCC by May 22

-If you are planning to enter a 4-year or Community College:

1) Copy of your updated Naviance college admissions results page. Please select the appropriate result of accepted, denied, or withdrawn for all schools listed. 2) Copy of completed Senior Survey. 3) Copy of the acceptance letter from the school you will be attending. This process will ensure that your final transcript will be sent to the school you plan to attend in the fall.

-If you are planning to work, enter the military, take a gap year, or travel:

1) Stop in the CCC to let us know your plans.

·      JUNIORS: Want an insiders’ view to the College application process? The Mira Costa High School College & Career Center invites the Junior Class to the Case Study College Night and Mini College Fair on May 18 at 6:00 pm. Parents and students will be led through various mock admissions committees to gain insight and understanding as to what is valued in an application. This event is an engaging and effective way to discuss the college application process with college admission representatives from around the country. A college mini fair with over 20 different private and out of state colleges will be held in the Cafeteria immediately following this event, beginning at 7:15 pm.

Space for the Case Study activity is limited to 150 juniors and ONE parent/guardian per student. Students must sign up through Naviance. The mini fair is open to all students and parents, no sign-up required.

·      El Camino College invites you to College Night on Wednesday, April 26 at 5:30 – 8:00 pm. Learn about ECC Programs and Resources. Attend workshops: Transfer Strategies, Summer STEM/Robotics Program, EOPS, and more! Tour the campus and find out how to take FREE college classes while still in high school! ·      Career Speaker Series: Professionals in various industries will visit the CCC to speak about their careers and the path they took to get there. This is a great opportunity to learn about different careers and the steps you need to take to gain opportunities for internships and to learn about your future dream job. Please sign up on Naviance or in the CCC. All grade levels are welcome! Watch the bulletin for additional speakers.

o   Women in Business/Lean In: Taking Chances With Confidence – Lily Chang **Rescheduled for Wednesday,  April 26 at 9:27am (AM Office Hours)**

·      Featured Program: UCLA Summer Sessions 2017 for High School Students During the summer, high school students have a unique opportunity to earn college credit by enrolling in UCLA undergraduate courses. Over 100 courses in 50 subject areas are open to high school students who want to experience UCLA’s academic rigor. All course work is recorded on an official UCLA transcript.
