STUDENT INFO
· Biotechnology Applications are out! Freshmen, come by room 352A to pick up an application ASAP – Deadline to submit is Friday, April 14! Students who complete this 3-year pathway will graduate Mira Costa High School with experience and materials that rival that of a college graduate with a science major. They will enter undergraduate labs well equipped to perform virtually any technical application and/or they will be competitive applicants for paid internships and jobs in biotechnology. Swing by Room 352A during PM Office Hours on Wednesday, March 29 for more information.
· The Mira Costa History Project will be an elective class next fall. This will be a unique opportunity for a select number of students to be involved in the production of a book. Enrollment is limited, and this course will be held in the evening a couple nights per week like a college class. See Mr. Currier in Room 222 at snack or lunch for an application and more information.
CLUBS & ORGANIZATIONS
· Join Mira Costa’s BSU on Wednesday, March 22, during AM office hours to hear Dr. Alison Jefferson give a speech on the history of Bruce’s Beach! The speech will be in Room 330 in the math and science building.
SPORTS
· MIRA COSTA BOYS’ LACROSSE takes on John Bosco at home tomorrow, Tuesday, March 21. JV game kicks off at 5pm followed by Varsity under the night lights at 7pm! Come grab some delicious food at the food truck, watch the dance team perform at half time of the varsity game, and cheer on the lax boys!
· MIRA COSTA BOYS’ TENNIS Varsity and JV teams are currently undefeated this season! They are coming off a big win against highly competitive Los Alamitos and playing two exciting home matches this week. Come cheer them on versus Arcadia Wednesday and Palos Verdes on Thursday at the Costa courts from 3pm to 5pm. Both JV and Varsity will be playing across all courts at that time. Hope to see you there!
COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER

o Wednesday, Mar. 29 – Stress Reduction Workshop at 12:26pm (PM Office Hours). Join us in the CCC for a relaxation session with guided meditations and breathing exercises as well as Gio (the therapy dog).
· Career Speaker Series Professionals in various industries will visit the CCC to speak about their careers and the path they took to get there. This is a great opportunity to learn about different careers and the steps you need to take to gain opportunities for internships and to land your dream job. Please sign-up on Naviance or in the CCC. · El Camino Counseling Appointments – A counselor from El Camino College will be in the CCC on Wednesday afternoons. If you are planning on attending El Camino in the fall, sign up for your appointment in the CCC.
· SoCal Roc is now enrolling for its 9-week courses. Classes begin Monday, April 10. Sign up now to speak with a SCROC advisor and pick up an application in the Career Center.
· Featured Summer Program - Binghamton Summer College is a two-week program that provides an early college experience for academically talented, rising high-school juniors and seniors. Scheduled Sunday, July 16, through Friday, July 28. Take courses such as “Intro to Engineering,” “Business Foundations and Leadership Academy,” “Speech and Debate,” “Behind the Scenes at the Museum” and “How to be a Writer,” taught by distinguished Binghamton faculty. http://www.binghamton.edu/admissions/summer-college/. · Test Prep Information
Kaplan’s ACT Prepathon – Saturday, March 25 Kaplan will be holding our first ever ACT Prepathon on March 25 from 9am – 3pm. Students can join in live to practice for the upcoming ACT test. Every hour on the hour, one of Kaplan’s top instructors will coach attendees through a different section of the ACT.
