STUDENT INFO
· The Mira Costa History Project will be an elective class next fall. This will be a unique opportunity for a select number of students to be involved in the production of a book. Enrollment is limited, and this course will be held in the evening a couple nights per week like a college class. See Mr. Currier in Room 222 at snack or lunch for an application and more information.
· The South Bay Show features a podcast interview with Michael Hayden, Director of Choirs; Mark McCormick, Pianist; and students Kayla Elson, Emily Chase, Isabel Gray, Azaan Esmail, and Kavita Sarathy from Mira Costa Choirs. This engaging interview discusses their upcoming cathedral concert with an insightful portion of the interview devoted to the importance of an arts education in the life of a high school student. · Only 1 day left! Friday, March 17 is the last day to turn in artwork for the Student Art Show! Entries can be any medium (drawing, painting, photography, sculpture, fashion design, etc.). See Mrs. Heredia in Room 62 for more info and official entry form.
· March Madness! Lunches with Love is giving one hour of community service for 5 toiletry kits that contain a minimum of 6 items (toothpaste, toothbrush, soap, shampoo, deodorant, combs/brushes, feminine hygiene products, razor, shaving cream) for the month of March ONLY at our next delivery on Sunday, Mar. 19. · The most popular 9th through 12th grade dance has arrived. Everyone come to the MCHS Student Store to get tickets for the Sadie Hawkins Dance on March 25 at the Embassy Suites Hotel. Ticket vouchers are also available on the ASB Webstore.
CLUBS & ORGANIZATIONS
· Come to the Animal Shelter Club on Fridays during lunch in Room 55. We support local animal shelters and find cats and dogs their forever homes.
· Come to Pink Ribbon Club at lunch in Room 78 on Thursdays (TODAY). We will be discussing our upcoming Bake Sale.
· Attention all 9th, 10th and 11th graders: If you are interested in joining ASB Student Government, come to one of three mandatory information meetings on 3/16 (TODAY), 3/20 or 3/21 at lunch in Room 41.
SPORTS
· MIRA COSTA BOYS’ LACROSSE takes on Palisades Charter at home tomorrow, Friday, Mar. 17. JV game kicks off at 5pm followed by Varsity under the night lights at 7pm! There will be a food truck, so come hungry and cheer on the team!
· Come to the Mira Costa Dance Team’s pre-audition workshop on Thursday, Mar. 23 from 4-6 pm in Room 81 to meet some of the varsity Dance Team members, learn routines, and gain important information about auditions.
COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER

o Wednesday, Mar. 29 – Stress Reduction Workshop at 12:26pm (PM Office Hours). Join us in the CCC for a relaxation session with guided meditations and breathing exercises as well as Gio (the therapy dog).
· Career Speaker Series Professionals in various industries will visit the CCC to speak about their careers and the path they took to get there. This is a great opportunity to learn about different careers and the steps you need to take to gain opportunities for internships and to land your dream job. Please sign-up on Naviance or in the CCC. · El Camino Counseling Appointments – A counselor from El Camino College will be in the CCC on Wednesday afternoons. If you are planning on attending El Camino in the fall, sign up for your appointment in the CCC.
· SoCal Roc is now enrolling for its 9-week courses. Classes begin Monday, April 10. Sign up now to speak with a SCROC advisor and pick up an application in the Career Center.
· Featured Summer Program - Binghamton Summer College is a two-week program that provides an early college experience for academically talented, rising high-school juniors and seniors. Scheduled Sunday, July 16, through Friday, July 28. · Test Prep Information
Kaplan’s ACT Prepathon – Saturday, March 25 Kaplan will be holding our first ever ACT Prepathon on March 25 from 9am – 3pm. Students can join in live to practice for the upcoming ACT test. Every hour on the hour, one of Kaplan’s top instructors will coach attendees through a different section of the ACT.
